Arrrrrr!!! K-Love is mad at the 96.7 pirate!

Paint em as who they really are, outsiders from California, who are NOT local and are unable to relate to the local NY culture and marketplace.

Given the format of K-Love, I simply offer the observation that Jesus Christ knows how to relate to any culture, in any marketplace, any time, any day.

JC might know how to relate, but corporate radio owners intent on making a buck in a certain market are not quite so aware. They simply rely on info fed to them by a focus group or some vague demographic.

Maybe it's time to put both those new anti-pirate laws in NY and NJ into action?

With all the police layoffs going on in NJ the cops just don't have enough resources to go after pirate radio operators. Violence in Newark is out of control - they can't spare officers to go look for a pirate radio station.

Precisely.

Newark, along with much of that part of Jersey in general is in need of just a bit more than a little pirate control.

Take a drive around there for a few minutes and tell me you think pirate radio operators are the most pressing issue at hand.

The 96.7 pirate isn't crippling K-Love because it's a national god-caster. But if 96.7 were a locally owned and programmed station, the pirate would reduce the advertising revenue from New Jersey, which is significant.

Driving down the Turnpike on Friday I was able to pick up 96.7 WKLV-FM pretty clearly in the car around New Brunswick....I was also able to pick it up today (although very choppy but listenable) around the Cheesequake Service Area on the GSP......Although they are having issues with pirates they do get out pretty far......It's just too bad they are carrying a sat non local CCM format nobody is going to listen to.
