ARSN

Now that the Razorback football season is over, I'm wondering what everyones opinion is on the announcer lineup for ARSN. I think that Mike Nail has done a very competitent and workmanlike job all season long and I personally would like to see him named the full-time football play-by-play man for next season. At the end of the broadcast today, he thanked the fans for their support and dedicated his work to Paul. Let him finish the basketball season this year, and make Scott Inman his replacement for the roundball hogs next year. While we all missed Paul this year, it sure was nice to have a familiar voice on the broadcasts this season, one of the best seasons in a long time. So if King Frank or Dale are reading this, hats off to Nail and my vote is for him to be Paul's replacement. Any comments???

Ditto.... Nail was so solid this year. With that said... who do you feel like are some of the better play-by-play people in the state? I like Barrett on baseball. Don't like his show much, but I do like his play-by-play. I think Brad Haworth in Mountain Home does a great job on the high school level.

Jeff Matthews should land SOMETHING with ARSN, although it would be especially tough for him to work in a mention about Fellowship or one of his kids every 6 minutes like he does on KURB.

Seriously, it's been unbelievable how so many people have stepped up since the death of Mr Eells. I've been really impressed with the 'spit and polish' of ARSN in such a time of change and uncertainty. Nice job!

Proving that we can sometimes agree with our counterparts in Camden... I must say

You hit the nail on the head. Mike did a fabulous job! And while it seemed so small at the time, the way he cranked out those station specific liners after being named the replacement had to be hard on him. His true professionalism and character made such a great season even better...

Before the season I thought Barrett should get the gig... Maybe he still does / should... But Mike made the Razorback games very easy to listen to.

My vote would go to Mike!

Keep it the way it is for a while....

Then let the games begin as to whether it will be Chuck or Sully or an out of towner. Or Sandy Sanford for that matter. We would never run out of exciting calls for weekly promos!!!

I think the first time I said that "he was holding that ball like a welfare baby," I would probably get the boot... Plus my play by play skills are so lackluster when shone up against those of the Media Mogul.

You just don't want the job because you know that I wou... I mean... other sportscasters would barrage you with text messages that make you crack up on the air....

Hey Sandy... My equipment was having some technical difficulties and I actually considered taking a cue from some other stations and taping my Blackberry to the wall the other night. But I thought better of it and just held it up to my ear.

Grant Merrill needs to be given a shot on ARSN. Altho he's not a sports dude, he's an excellent reporter, writes well, and is lovingly already known as LR's King of All Media.

I think that you could count Steve Sullivan out. My sources have told me that Sully would be a DEFINATE NO-GO with King Frank - something about Frank not getting along with Sully or something, but I don't know anything more than that. Now, on the other hand, my sources also tell me that King Frank really likes Chuck Barrett. I like Chuck too, but I don't know if he's the one. But I wouldn't completely rule him out though. Another thing, will Keith Jackson stay on now that his son wont be there next year??

Mike is a voice we all know and it is known by most everyone. There are alot of passive fans that only get involved on game day and they may not know Chuck. Mike is much better as the total package. Just my opinion......

Other possible folks...
Tom Longfellow. He could give us the historical perspective which Broyles is too young to give.
Craig O'Neill. He's Arkansas' version of John Madden.
Sharpe Dunaway. When the Hogs are losing, he'd whip out the bong.
David Bazzell. Go Hogs, go, yay, Dave's in the booth and he's so gay!
Becky Rogers. See David Bazzell.
Bob Robbins. See Tom Longfellow.

chuck is ok for baseball...but no way for football.....i like sully but if broyles doesn't like him..it won't happen....what about scott inman...he is pretty good at it.....

mike did a great job given the circumstance....but he is much more comfortable on b-ball....let's get a real football guy with some dramatic flair
