Art Bell calls it quits - for good?

I'm surprised no one else has brought this up here.

I think Art left the air like 2 weeks ago.

His show last night - Saturday - was tape-delayed from 2004. It aired 10 p.m. ET, in the spot Ian Punnet used to hold. Last night, Ian had the spot Bell used to host.

The best-of show of Bell's was riveting, as always. A great talent Bell has.

I love Noory and Punnett (spell?), but Art's a legend.

Anyone know why he's retiring again?

Art Bell announced his follow up retirement on July 1; his new wife delivered their baby daughter on May 30, 2007, and they're living in the Phillipines. Since he's 62, I think it's safe to guess that his self disclosure that he wants to spend more time with his family is accurate, but there's no reason to think he'll never come back to the airwaves. Let's be happy for his new joy and recognize that self fulfillment comes from a variety of life experiences...some of which will no doubt be yet another return to the airwaves (he can't stay away!).

You know, I like Ian Punnet well enough, but he seems to dwell on political intrigue an awful lot. I remember when George took full-time, there was quite a lot of politics, and we heard politics all day long. The Coast to Coast show had for years been about paranormal, science, futurism and space. It took a lot of people complaining to Art in emails that the show wasn't the same. But George eventually got the idea, and the show got back on track.

Now with Punnett, we may be facing the same challenge. He is weak on science and especially speculative science. I would hate to see C to C turn into just another Bush-bashing all nighter. Ian Punnett need some guidance from the listeners.

It's hoax to hoax-AM in many respects. It's a lot of pseudoscience, a total waste of the airwaves. Too many people are tricked into thinking that pseudoscience is reality. Same problem with the Jeff Rense show. They could hire someone on C2C who takes a more analytical approach, like Whitley Streiber who still does DREAMLAND on another network, or Laura Lee who used to do weekends on KVI/KGA/KKOB/KKOH/KXL/etc. (I think this was before Citadel purchased some of these, Citadel V/P of N/T Brian Jennings hired Laura Lee at KING and KVI in Seattle.) Why Dreamland was cancelled from Premeire I don't have any idea. I don't know what happened to Laura Lee show on weekends. Perhaps Whitley Streiber and Laura Lee could be new weekend co-hosts of C2C??? What do U think?

They're not living in the Philippines anymore. They moved back to Pahrump and Art's wife became a citizen. That's why they were in the Philippines so long. It took a lot of time.

ABQTom, I don't think you realize Coast to Coast is Science Fiction. No intelligent person will take any part of it as "truth". For best results, let your mind wander far and wide, your imagination is the limit. There is no reason "truth" should be ubiquitous on the airwaves, and in any case it is impossible to determine.
