Art Bell's Midnight in the Desert
Well here I come again! We are going to give it a try again. After a two Year rest following a shot with Sirius/XM I am going to start a live Streaming show on July 20th. Getting a very interesting start in that so far about 20 stations will pick up the Internet stream, amazing. We will be available 9PM-12AM Mon-Fri P.T. I will stay with the Paranormal Format. Stream is FREE to all and a Podcast minus the music for five bucks a Month. I am very excited about it and plan to give it my best shot. Info at ArtBell.com

Great! Look forward to hearing you. Used to love tuning in to you early in the morning... If you don't mind, why are you streaming only? No interest in syndication again?

Good news!

Art, if you're successful at picking up a significant number of affiliates (and there's no reason you shouldn't be, especially considering the competition) you could turn the radio/streaming model upside down. Content feeding to terrestrial radio instead of from it. Not good news for the traditional radio networks.

Congrats and great success!

Back in the 90's, I was among the first to listen to the Art Bell Show web stream. Real Audio format, low bit rate. Talk sounded good but the low bit rate really butchered the music. It will be great to hear you again, Art.

Yes those were indeed the early days! This time we come with 48Kbps HEAAC, going to be fun.

Real Audio in general butchered just about everything, but I guess we were doing good to have anything at all back then. I occasionally come across old RA files strewn about the Interwebz and, coming from my mostly contemporary 320Kb MP2-laden perspective, it kind of puts into perspective how far things have come in only about 20 years:

"Yes those were indeed the early days! This time we come with 48Kbps HEAAC, going to be fun."
"Good choice of codec."

I'm looking forward to Art's return. I very much enjoyed "Dark Matter" on SiriusXM and was sorry it only lasted a few weeks. The trouble with a show that is only streamed (and picked up by about 20 stations) is I can't listen in the car, unless you have a NYC affiliate. Will the list of affiliated radio stations be on your website? Will the schedule be like Dark Matter, which I think was three hours a night, four nights a week, with repeats the other three nights of the week?

Awesome, glad to hear that Art Bell is coming back to the radio. I grew up listening to C2C AM and can't wait to hear him again every night.

You could always capture the stream to a file (got VLC?) then play that in the car, locally, using the device of your choice.

The show debuted last night (this morning.) I've read that terrestrial affiliates are prohibited from streaming because Bell is offering it as paid content, yet it seems to be available in real time on his site and, I think, on Tune-In. Anyone know?

Thanks.

That is correct.
