Art Laboe announces a weekday show

It's called the Art Laboe Connection and will air from 7p-12a M-F. He's gonna do it out in only Palm Springs and Fresno initially, but he does hope to have more affiliates over time.

Will KHHT either bump Sean Andre or put Art's weekday show on their HD-2?<P ID="signature">______________

I cannot even imagine them messing with Sean Andre - who is HUGELY successful at night - despite Art's great name...

This may be a stretch, but if KHHT doesn't want it, what about KRTH?

No, because Art is on KHHT on the weekend - and I doubt Art would want to tick off Clear Channel (he is on several of their stations including KGGI).

Art Laboe on KRTH. Now that's a ********* joke!
Getting ratings in a specific niche doesn't
mean the guy is a mainstream personality.

Art Laboe: Quick History Lesson

Art Laboe: Curator of those famed OLDIES BUT GOODIES compilations of the late '50s and '60s, now out on CD, DJ, etc etc etc. Found my parents' old stash on LP (that's vinyl, kids). Even beats the Collectibles catalog, IMHO.

This guy was on XPRS out of Tijuana, Mexico when they were known as a Top 40 powerhouse "Mighty 1090" during the days of 100kw directional AMs aimed at the US from our friends to the south, killing any adjacent channels nationawide like a local. Though not as well known to us and generations before us to the east as to those folks to the west, this guy is a radio legend. And those compilations records were, are, and will be sold country-wide for all time. If people want the music, they'll find it.

Laboe would associate with different audience age groups, but if he's got something going for him now with CC, if ain't broke, don't fix it.

He's better off doing his weekday show and distributing nationwide through Premiere (CC Syndication), grab more sticks and still keep his weekend show on HOT 92. Best of both worlds for the guy.

It wouldn't work on KRTH because he's planning on including Latin Hip Hop. Remember when he was on KRTH in the early 70s? I think it was '73, "The KRTH Nostalgia Party" with Art Laboe, he broadcast live from a nightclub he owned, which i think was also called "Laboes" This was way back when KRTH first started. I think Huggy Boy was on KRTH at around the same time.
