ART LABOE IN SAN LUIS OBISPO???

Say what you want about Art Laboe's decidely "different" approach to radio...

but his syndicated show is now on Q-104.5 in San Luis Obispo weeknights from 7p-12a
... a little odd since he's already on 95.7 The Beat in Santa Maria...
and both stations can be heard in the same exact places.

Will 95.7 ditch the show?

Will the show work in San Luis?

He usually targets hispanics... are there enough in the market for it to work???
If so... Are they listening to Q-104.5?

Q104 makes their living with the at-work audience, and they do it very well. So whatever they get after 7pm is gravy.

But Laboe's show is cheaper than another salaried jock with benefits on the payroll, and that's attractive to the AGM bottom line.

Will it work? In some zipcodes. The overlap between SM(Beat) and SLO could end up helping both stations.

It's "gravy" and doesn't matter to the ratings that already dropped a full point to a 2.4 12+.

Lots of irrelevant and unfamiliar "black" music specific to Laboe and old KRLA. Won't matter because listening level after 7 p.m. is down.

Other ways to do a lot better. Losing a jock w/benefits is certainly one way to help the bottom line for AGM, but so is having something to sell, but nighttime radio in SLO is something not sold, anyway.

Baboon farts would sound better. The show is depressing to hear on what's supposed to be a "Classic Hits" station.

They had Laboe on KDES weekdays and on the weekend and it really does blow "baboon farts". Last time I was there in April it had shrunk back to Sunday evenings.

We still run Art 10pm to 12mid. mon.-fri. here at KDES. He still gets the highest numbers of the entire station on his Sunday night show.

Still on weeknights? No wonder I didn't hear it. Old folks don't drive past 10 PM. :) All I remember hearing is Victor in the evening. For someone older that dirt Art really does suck.
