As You May Know Art Does a weekend show For us on 1550.

My Question.... why is The Man (ART) the guy who molded KOB AM into what it is today ( I believe he transitioned it from music to Talk) Not in The NMBA Hall Of Fame? I believe he also was the Man In Charge That Shaped KOB FM into the Monster it was in the 80's.

Art with His Long career From Traveling With The Beatles & Martin Luther King to Putting Together one of the Fisrt Succesfull News/Talkers in the 60's, Why is he NOT in Our States Radio Hall Of Fame and HOW can we if you agree Get Him In.

Just a Thought....As Always God Bless and do Good Radio Try to Make a POSITIVE impast today when open the mic

For those new to the Albuq. radio scene:

Art spent most of his professional life in TV and radio news. He has been reporter, anchor man, news director, national correspondent, bureau chief and Vice President and General Manager of eight radio stations: Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New York City, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Albuquerque, before he pursued other interests.

Mr. S. lost his sight in the early 80s and has since devoted his life to helping those who are blind or those who are losing their sight.

He is the recipient of many honors and awards, including the Dupont Award presented by the Columbia School of Journalism; Broadcaster of the Year Award, presented by the New Mexico Broadcasters Association; the American Lung Association’s Humanitarian Gold Medallion Award; the President’s Award from the National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico and the Federation’s Student Division “Role Model” Award; and the Albuquerque, New Mexico Senior Hall of Fame.

CC, you introduced a winning thought, and in today's Albuq. radio scene, there is no one more deserving to be honored in the NM Radio Hall of Fame than Art Schreiber. How do we follow up?

The success of KOB-FM in the 80's was the work of Chuck Knapp from Minneapolis and the late Steve Hatley. Art took over as GM of KOB-FM in 1988, six years after the station had become the consistent #1 in the market.

I Taked with The Pd of KOB in The MID 80's who was Hired By Art. I put Art in ABQ in 85 for Both KOB's and ART came to ABQ from Minneapolis. I will Ask Art when he arrived here exactly when I see him This week.
The point is That ART deserves to Be In for his development of KOB AM at the very least.

As Always God Bless & Keep On Keeping On

Art became the General Manager of Hubbard's KOB and KOB-FM in 1981. He is indeed responsible for the monumental success of KOB-FM in the early 80's, and the legacy of KKOB-AM today. The gentlemen mentioned above, great talents, were hired by Art. This market has seen only three GM's who were (or are) true powerhouses - Art, Cindy Weiner (now Schloss) and Milt McConnell. Some might not be too pleased that Cindy's name is on the list, but her success in Albuquerque is undisputable.

Speaking of GM's, who got the chair at Univision? Did they give the position to Mark Ballard?

Seems to me David Lyons was the manager of KOB-FM in 1983, when I went to work for Hubbard for the radio side of the company. Lyons left the station late that year and Art took over management of the consolidated radio division shortly afterward. Art enjoyed a lot of support from Hubbard, and the station did very heavy promotion at the time.
