Article About James Crystal Radio

Thanks for the article TS.

I figured they had to be hemorraging for cash.

FTL sounds like the only profitable station they have.

Well, I really hope that the stations will go to an owner that will not turn them brokered

I didn't think the company was in that bad of shape to the point where they were evading the IRS and Hilliard was dodging the courts by flying from country to country.

Rollye James said this about the article:

"I know Jim Hilliard very well.. he was my boss over 30 years ago in Indiana.. Fairbanks Broadcasting was the classiest place I ever worked. (Hilliard is originally from the Pacific Northwest-- not Indiana.. he did the whole radio circuit in the '50s and '60s from Texas to Winnipeg before coming to Indy.) Sorry to see him devolve to this.. I also think it's a stretch that he's 69.. I know how old I am, and he's GOT to be much older :)"

Just an FYI to all. That article in no way reflects the 100% truth. Just like any sleazy journalist, the guy from the Herald declined to tell "everything." Leave out some facts and make something look like you want it to look to have it sound the way you want it to sound. Well, I guess that's what most "journalism" is today.

As far as the employees, I can't speak for everyone, but this place treats me well. I've worked for many of those "other" radio companies. This one actually gives a crap. Yeah, we can't seem to get our act together to get some ratings but I've got good hours, they pay my benefits and they've NEVER missed a paycheck for me. I can't stay that about any other company I've worked for.

And, I've seen when people get sick or have serious accidents or family situations, the paychecks never stop.

So, say what you will about JCR, but I'm glad I'm here and not at the other guys'

This post sounds like it might be from Steve "I have no comment" Lapa's whipping boy Ken Pauli. I'm glad to hear the paychecks are always there. But seems like the world is finally collapsing around the corruption and law-evasion at James Crystal radio. When you "cook the books", you better make sure the water is at the boiling point to stave off the bacteria. I guess the chief "book cook" didn't check the water temperature because it looks like "the last supper" is near for James Crystal. So you might want to have those paychecks issued as "certified".

One big question....if Hilliard is not allowed to personally borrow from the business and only collect a "salary of $200,000", does that mean he has to give up first class and fly coach around the world to evade the process servers? Hey, maybe there is a new TV game show in the making called "Where In The World Is James Hilliard?"

I'm glad Rollye had a good experience with Fairbanks, I didn't!!!

While I wasn't the greatest jock in the world (and not the worst) I found Russ Morley to be very difficult to work for at WRMF. It was by far the worst station I ever worked for. So I doubt they are one big happy family as long as he's there.

They tried to make a Miami station out of WRMF and it never worked. Then they tried to make a Miami station out of WFTL-850. My advice is to forget Miami and serve West Palm Beach.

I know someone who is looking into this case and if anything it's an even BIGGER mess than the article suggests. There is no way the stations are worth 52 mil.
