Article: Jeff Zucker to replace Bob Wright as CEO of NBC

Jeff Zucker, who made his mark as executive producer of NBC’s “Today” show, is expected to be named chief executive of NBC Universal this week, a newspaper reported Sunday.

Zucker, 41, will succeed Bob Wright, who has headed the network for 21 years, company sources told the Los Angeles Times.

An NBC spokesman did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press on Sunday.

The transition comes as NBC Universal angles itself to compete against online forces such as Google, YouTube and MySpace [website].

Jack Welch made some comments the other day about firing Zucker if he hadn't retired as head of GE. I have to guess that Welch is a big fan of Passions or Days of our Lives since Zucker has made it clear he's done with daytime with his four hour Today show.
