Wow, and I thought most amatuer radio operators were not into learning the code.
I thought CW had already dead.
Same thing happened about 15 years ago when all the computer people got real excited about this new
Upper Sideband thing. I wondered why the folks who "introduce" technology and name technology
don't have enough experience, perspective or reference to select acronyms or names that are not already "taken"
within the particular technology, like "USB".
Smirk mode off, I see the CW bug on WGN local Chicago OTA signal.
The branding is so weak and undefined, I donn't think if I've EVER been exposed to real "Name" of the network...which even seems odd to see anywhere on WGN, since they have always been the only BIG "independent" non-network station to me.
My mind does a little freee-association spinnng every time this "CW" comes up, because CW just pulls up
Country and Western for me...
"Branding" is supposed to be such an important concept today.
If you never do a decent job of defining your brand, then call it something clunky like "The CW" is wasted effort.
If the network is intent on hiding their actual name, so as to appear less relevant, they are succeeding.
If there is some super hip plan to be so mysterious as not even ever mention or talk about CW might mean,
they would also be succeeding. At any rate, I'm not going to reasearch it. I'm waiting to see if there's
any reference somewhere within the TV world itself. I might see an hour of TV some weeks, then not again for months.
It's a mystery I'm not concerned at all about.
We do stream Netflix and still get DVDs.
I'd have to say their branding has done a lot better job of getting through, just by name alone.
