Article: 'Sheriff John' Rovick remembers his KTTV days

Nice article, Dan. But thanks to you, I'm going to have "put another candle on my birthday cake..." stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

Yeah, it's a great article. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad Mr. Rovick is still with us.

I remember one time when Sheriff John was doing a live remote from Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park. We lived not too far from there so my mom drove down and we watched him do his show live. I have a shot of it somewhere.

We haven't heard much from the KCOP kid show hosts. Beachcomer Bill was probably the first local kid's show to be aired in color.

Here's a little background on him:

Then there was Chuck Jones the Magic Man who was 20 when he began his show on channel 13.

Here's his website:

I had the chance of seeing both of them live--in fact on the same night. I had tickets to see Chuck Jones and after his show they quickly shuttled the entire audience over to Beachcomer Bill's.

My parents sent in my name to the show for my 1st birthday. They said they remember when he announced it.
