ARTIE & HOWARD! THIS IS HEATING UP!

ARTIE LANGE called K-ROCK yesterday and told GARY that he wasn't coming in Friday. This is after HOWARD STERN told his listeners that Artie would be in on Friday after taking Thursday off.

Howard sounds ticked-off! Howard spoke to his agent about this. DON BUCHWALD gave his two cents on this matter.

Things are heating up at K-ROCK. What will Howard do? What do you think? Will Vegas take odds on this?

It's all dramatics. Howards show will end in the fall, regardless.

Artie has provisions in his contract that allow for time off for tours and movies and whatever else..

This is really about Sirius in January, not K-rock now. Supposedly Sirius wants Artie to sign a 5 year deal. Artie doesn't want to commit to anything that long and thinks he has a long-term future in TV and films. Howard is warning him ( in a low-keyed way) to take the security he offers and forget about the gambling mentality and agent pipedreams about wealth. Stern knows Lang is a valuable addition to the Stern Org. and the show will suffer in Jan/06 if he doesn't flip to Sirius. Howard says to take outside jobs but report to work as well. Artie doesn't think he can handle that. He wants the Stern job but also freedom to come and go as he needs. Howard will put up with a lot but not that. If I had to guess now, Artie doesn't sign on at Sirius.

Since its been reported on this board that Howard is doing a four day Sirus work week, can't Artie be happy with that? If he waits too long, that chair could get filled quickly if Stern/Sirus is forced to act...

Bring back Jackie Martling!!!

You notice that when someone wants to spread their wings a little bit, Howard is there to put salt on their tail feather.

Everytime John would do a TV show or do his touring comedy cavalcade Howard would rip him, ultimately when John was offered the Leno gig Howard was sour grapes and wouldn't even give him an appropriate farewell.

Jackie did an episode of Bobby Flay's barbecue show and Howard gave him crap. He would even knock Jackie's albums and merchandise.

Robin was the front runner to be Roger Ebert's partner, but her loyalty to Howard made her stay put. Not only that, he put the carrot of a daytime talk-show to keep her in the stable.

The Robin Quivers show will never see the light of day. Neither will Doomsday, Young Howard Stern or any of his other "Howard Stern Productions" it's a tax write off!!

I love Howard and planned on following him to Sirius. But the 4 day work week thing is so lame!!!!!How could he take a half a billion dollars from them and not work 5 days. I listen to Howard because he makes weekday mornings go by quickly. So what are you supposed to do on Friday mornings??

Screw that, sorry Howard. I have a feeling he doesn't care.............take the money and run Howie, you earned it.

Artie let the cat out of the bag when he blurted out that Sirius is offering him less money than he made years ago on the Norm Show. Howard's response was the lame comment, "welcome to radio".

Artie knows that is bullshit. Sirius is negotiating directly with Artie and trying to lowball him. How come Howard has not offered to dip into his $500 million production budget and kick in a few extra bucks for Artie?

I does not matter if Howard only works 4 days. Opie and Anthony have a much better show on XM and it is on five days a week.

How much does Howard keep?

I heard Artie complaining about the lowball offer from Sirius. I thought Stern had to pay all the employees on his show out of the $100 million/per year. I guess I'm wrong. Is Sirius paying all the members of the team (like Scott, Sal, Richard, Robin)? Will Tom C. come to Sirius? How much per year will Stern net before taxes?

Re: How much does Howard keep?

I bet Tom C. does go to Sirius. He's big buddies with Mel.

If Tom, the one who has butchered the show for so many years, goes to Sirius, Then you know Howard is full of sh&t.

I was all keyed up to get Sirius for Howard. But after knowing Mal K. is heading it up AND Howard is only working 4 days a week, I am not getting it. I might even get XM out of spite.

I LOVE HOWARD AND THE CREW.

But of all things 4 day work week is outrageous!!!!

I'm surprised I'm the only one soured on that.

And I dont wanna hear "Howard deserves Fridays off". He's making $100,000,000 a year. Quite frankly he should be on 7 days a week live for that kind of money.
