Artie Lang and Nick DiPaolo Split

WHPT in Tampa, Florida was carrying the entire show. Now, the PD is wondering if he shouldn't cancel the show from the WHPT line-up. Why would Nick leave a 500k a year job?

Wonder if they still have to pay him if he leaves rather than getting fired.
I would imagine doing a show with Lange would be tough, he's never shown that he wants to work and who knows if he even preps
if that is the case it must be very frustrating.

According to Artie, Nick wants to do a right-wing political talk show. America doesn't need another Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck or Shawn Hannity wannabe. I wish someone would give Thom Hartmann another political talk show. Yeah, he's a liberal, but Thom does allow conservative callers on the air. I and most people I know listen to sports talk to take a break from the political shows. 90% of the time, I'll choose sports over political talk.

Hartmann is still on, via Dial-Global.Has been since Air America pulled the plug and he jumped to Jones Radio (which got absorbed by DG).

As for another right wing show, I'll agree with you there. There's already too many D-list conservatalkers out there, everyone wants their own show at this point.

Nick's general crankiness can make for a good night on stage now and again, but 3 hours a night, 5 nights a week, ~300 nights a year is too much for this kind of show. It'll be interesting who to see who they might want to try to pair up with Artie.

Re: Artie Lange and Nick DiPaolo Split

Wow, one of the hosts departs the show, and the host is not Artie Lange? Who saw that coming? Anybody?

I gotta say, I think Nick could do great in that arena. You're right that conservative talk radio doesn't need business as usual, but that isn't what a Nick DiPaolo hosted talk show would be.
