Artie Lange in rehab

Just read this morning that Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lange has entered rehab for his addictions. How many times has he been to rehab?
Will he ever beat his addictions or is he too far gone?

Discuss among yourselves.

Arte has been having a problem for a while and it was noticeable on-air. Will he beat his addition? Hard to say. Artie in Enneagram terms (personality fixation science) is what could be called an extreme optimist. He runs form pain. The pain he runs from is related to his mother as a child. Artie's type knows it problem and knows what needs to be done but can not do it for themselves. What needs to be done is therapy to address the issues. It is tough for an extreme optimist to face this pain so they keep running looking for positive situations and scenarios. Drugs help them escape. I think Artie recently hinted that he might be seeing someone. But I think it is a psychiatrist rather than a psychologist so he will only get so far. But perhaps he is starting to open that severe wound and in doing so the drugs are coming back into the picture. Regardless of what the media tells you drug addition is a response to a pain, Artie has a lot of pain so it takes a lot to get over it. If it took you 40 years to have the pain, it is not going ot take 6 weeks of rehab to get rid of it.

I believe at this point for Artie, a psychiatrist is an IMPORTANT component because the psychiatrist can prescribe medication that will begin to modify his extreme symptoms while Artie begins to ADDRESS the issues that caused him to make the choices he has made in his life up until now..and you're right, the pain will NOT go away after six weeks (I speak from experience), BUT...Artie can begin to create a positive lifestyle for himself which may even include at some point the return to both radio and comedy - Artie is a VERY GIFTED performer and should not be knocked for his past choices - but rather welcomed back with OPEN ARMS when he DOES RETURN TO RADIO!!
