Artie Lange

Just read a report that Artie Lange has quit the Stern show. It happened yesterday. Surprised nobody's said anything about it. Looks like nobody cares. :p

I heard the show and it was interesting. I guess posts were made to other sites.
I did notice SIRIUS did not replay the show yesterday, they rebroadcast a show from April 7. I find this very interesting.

This show was such an embarrassment for Stern. He said no one would hear it replayed. They didn't even update Stern's show page on his website for the day. Lange has been deteriorating on the show. It's clear to me hearing him that he is sometimes high on drugs and/or alcohol during the program. The other day he was slurring as he spoke well beyond his normal self. No one on the show does anything but makes fun of it and his condition. The day before the incident they had a hour of the show dedicated to his need to sleep on air that day. Sad person and sad part of the show that isn't as funny as they want to think. Let's see if Sirius lets him back. I would tell him to go to drug rehab or be fired. He needs help. This trip he is now on in Amsterdam will not be good for him. Now he can do all the drugs he wants there. Sad, sad case, and sad the show has let this go on like it has. I hope Sirius does the right thing and demands he get sober or get rid of him. He adds little to Sterns show anymore.

A big blow up before vacation? On Howard's show? A staff member walk out? On Howard's show? Never heard that before.

According to Lil' Jimmy Norton, who talked to Artie, Lange and his assistant still went to Amsterdam together during the vacation week.

I am not denying that the Artie bit may be real, but the chances of that in my books are .01% considering the timing and the source. The only reason it's as high as .01 is considering the way Artie looks to have been killing himself the last couple years, there is a small chance something really could have happened. According to HS, it's up to the company if Artie returns...bullcrap...it's up to Howard. Howies says he's back, Artie's back.

Artie has never really added anything to the Stern show. I think he's gotten worse over the years. At the beginning he was ok. Then he started acting like he was the real star of the show. He started talking over Stern and making comments which did not pertain to the topic. He continually talked about his drug and alcohol abuse which wasnt funny. He never really understood, that Stern made him the semi star that he is, and without Stern, Artie would still be doing those "B" movies. But he will go the way of Jackie and Stuttering John. They thought they could survive on their own and they didnt. So no big loss if Artie is gone. I could care less. He is easy to replace.

I happened to tune in right as that happened. It was the first thing that had me glued to the show in a long time. I agree that the show has become tired. A bunch of millionaires bitching about things like their assistants, their limos, and gala parties that they have to be at... Yawn. I wish that I could relate, but I can't.

Artie seems destined to die at a young age like John Belushi,Chris Farley,John Candy,Sam Kinson(Sam got sober, but was killed by a drunk driver.) :(

Somebody needs to kick Artie in the ass to get control of his addictions:food, gambling, drugs & booze. I sure he is getting a paid nicely by Sirius and only have to work 4 days a week. He lets his addictions lose his job on Mad TV back in the 1990s.

Who should take the place of Mr.Lange????

The drug addiction got Artie fired from the job he had on Mad TV in the mid to late 1990s. He was making $8K a week.

Who should take the place of Mr.Lange on The Howard Stern Show????

Any updates on Mr.Lange??? I checked the websites for Artie & Howard,no updates on either site

If Artie's "blowup" was a bit, then it just wasn't funny.

If he really blew up and had a near physical altercation, having to be restrained for the second time, then he should be gone for good. If not, if he ever flies off the handle and hurts someone, which I think is possible, then Sirius, Stern et al would be legally liable, since Howard accepted his resignation in the first place.

As a Sirius stockholder (not a lot, just 10,000 shares, but it's a lot for me) and a multiple subscriber for my wife and myself, I want him gone. If not, I'm canceling both subscriptions and dumping the stock to take the loss. It's a small gesture but it's the only thing I can do to show my displeasure for Artie's asinine and potentially dangerous actions. And if it's a bit, as I said earlier, it wasn't funny!

I can't stand people who have everything handed to them and then crap all over it. Time to investigate WiFi or some other wireless service for my car.

He's a sick man in my opinion and needs help. Let him go to rehab and then come out 6 months later and play Chuckles Comedy Club in Nowhere, USA. He went from funny to pathetic quite a while ago.

I almost bought the stock on the decline, but the price bottomed and went flat for so long (at the time) I didin't bother though. Sell and write off the lcapital gains oss at a $3K per year until it runs out or use it to offset some gains =) Wish I did that =/

Whats Jackie Martling doing these days??

Artie's blowup was not a staged event. It was real. It was clear if you listened to the actual show, have listened lately, know how Artie has been building towards this (had a few near fight incidents in the last two months), and if you listened to what they said when they got back. Stern isn't on public radio so doesn't need to stage events for ratings. His ratings are cemented now. The million folks who listen to him a day are his audience. He's not going to get any more Sirius people to listen than already do. He needs the XM merger to bump his numbers and make his contract look good. Other than that, he's just living out his contract and will either retire at the end if his name has faded or resign if the merger comes through and he looks like a draw for listeners.

And as for Jackie, he already has a horrible show on Sirius on Howard 101 called Jackie's Joke Hunt. Jackie is not funny. Never was. And Stern has made it clear while on Sirius that him and Jackie are not close enough to have Jackie back on the show. Stern almost clearly shows a disdain for Jackie as of late in conversation where his name comes up.

I have a feeling that artie will be in an early grave, im shocked he hasnt died yet. For howard, I think he'll honor his sirius contract and ride it out till the end

Even the King of Media wouldn't give 5 million bucks back, it's tough for anyone to do. Heck, i'd pick the noses of Cornish fishermen for that dough. Howard is a radio pro first and always, he will have another contract whatever happens with the merger. But back on tread, Arties' blowup was NOT staged, he simply lent the little assistant dough and instead of paying him back, he treats Artie like some sort of schmuck. Apparently Artie is coherent enough to realize he's being robbed by someone who's supposed to be lookin' out. The little steveador (sp) dockworker came to the surface. Beating someone up is commonplace on the docks, shocking in the studio....But radio gold.

Gee...I'd love to be doing as poorly as Stuttering John. Say 7 sentences a day, 5 days a week...have the TV vacation schedule...make several hundred grand as a BASE salary...have people buy your movie script mostly based off of your name...man, you're right. I really feel bad for John.

dumb

Stuttering John has never done anything on his own. He has been living off the Howard Stern show and not his talent, which he has none. If it wasnt for his stuttering and Howard, where would he be. Proabably still trying to be in a band, playing in some dump.

Agreed...but that's not your original argument. John went out on his own after leaving Stern and, contrary to what you first said, HAS made it and made it well.

I'll be the first to say John does absolutely NOTHING for his pay and he wouldn't be where he is had Howard not hired him...but he HAS made it post-Howard. Heck...the fact that he really does NOTHING for what he gets paid REALLY lets you know he's "made it" just fine.
