Artist/Band played on the most stations

I was having a conversation with some friends about radio the other day (for some reason, they're fascinated about me being "in the business").

We were wondering which band or artist is played on the most stations in Atlanta? I figured I'd turn to you, my radio-info geek friends (it's a compliment, I promise!) to solicit an answer.

The best candidate we could come up with was Counting Crows. We figured they're played on 99x, B98, Star, Lite, Dave and maybe Q & 96 Rock (at least some time in the not-so-distant past).

Are there any others? Maybe Jack Johnson? John Mayer? Dave Matthews?

What artists/bands are played on the most Atlanta stations?

My pick: Mariah Carey

This doesn't seem like a fair game if you say "not so distant past." How about right now? Counting Crows are played right now on Dave, 96rock and 99X. I'm not even sure they are on the Buzz.

My pick? Mariah Carey is played on Star 94, the Beat, Jamz, B98.5, Q100, V-103 and Hot 107.9. I'd say she is the most popular act on the most stations, thanks to "We Belong Together," though I know B98.5 plays "Fantasy." Lite 94.9 probably has some Mariah ballad on its playlist but I don't have full access to Mediabase 24/7 at the moment.

John Mayer is heard on Dave FM, Star 94, Q100, maybe Lite and B98.5, with 99X on Organic X at 99X. No way 96rock or Buzz would touch him.

Jack Johnson? Right now, just Dave and 99X. I don't think his big single is on Star or Q anymore.

Re: My pick: Mariah Carey

Mariah would be up there for sure. How about Maroon 5? Maybe Green Day?
______________

Good choices!

Green Day is up there -- Dave, 96rock, Buzz, 99X, Star 94, Q100. Six stations. B98.5 is a maybe--perhaps "Time of My Life." Mariah is on at least seven.

Maroon 5: Dave, Star, B98.5, 99X, Q100. Five. I don't think Lite has the band on its playlist.

Sheryl Crow: Dave, Star, Lite, B98.5, Q100

No Doubt: Dave, Star, B98.5, 99X, Q100, maybe Buzz

Gwen Stefani solo: Star, Q100, the Beat, V-103, Hot 107.9, maybe Jamz.

Usher: Star, Beat, Q100, V-103, perhaps Kiss with some of his older stuff, Jamz, Hot 107.9

Alicia Keys, to go by the earlier criteria of at least recently, has been on at least nine stations: Star, B98.5, Beat, Jamz, Q100, Kiss, Jazz, V-103 and Hot 107.9. (Whoops--put in 99X accidentally there earlier, thus generating the next message)

OutKast, over the past two years, has been on Dave (barely but I've heard "Hey Ya" a couple of times), Star, Jamz, Beat, 99X, Q100, V-103, Hot 107.9

Tim McGraw, recently, with "Live Like You Were Dying": Star, Q100, Kicks, Eagle, Lite
Edited by Rodney Ho on 08/03/05 03:35 AM.

Dark Horse: John Mellencamp

93, 94.9, 96, 98.5

It would have been a sure-thing when the max was 105.3, mix was 105.7 and before star went younger. In fact, I bet "Small Town" is the most played song in the history of Atlanta radio. Seriously.

What About...

... 3 Doors Down?

Look at what they've put out:

Let Me Go
Here Without You
Away From The Sun
When I'm Gone
Kryptonite
Duck and Run
Loser
Be Like That
Here By Me
Behind Those Eyes

Just to name a few... I'd wager you could find at least one of their records on quite a few ATL stations.
______________

Re: What About...

Okay-- hmmm... Dave FM. 99X. Buzz. Star 94. Q100. Five stations for sure. I'm not sure either B98.5 or Lite play 3 Doors Down. I don't have full access to Mediabase 24/7 right now.

I have heard "Here Without You" a few times in the past both on 94.9 and 98.5
