Artist You'd Like To Hear More Of Classic Country Radio

So many legends of Country are dead or retired. You have a bunch of the old school rock bands still on tour. The Eagles, Aerosmith, U2, and so on. I can only think of two 70s country stars who tour at all: George Jones and Willie Nelson.

Last I checked, Lyn Anderson, Jim Ed Brown (w/Helen Cornelius), Tommy Overstreet, and Merle Haggard still make ocassional appearances.

Lots still tour and do well..So many artist had long hitmaking careers and to only play 3 from an artist that had 15 hits is a huge disservice to the listener..It would take too long to start naming artists but just check sometime its mind blowing.. Its simple take the station playlist and compare it side by side with the charts and you'll see how many great hits don't get played..It ain't hard to do..90% of the time there is only one classic country in a market so you are not going to lose your core audience..you are all they've got..so why not give them a bigger taste of what they already love..If I wasn't such an awful typist I'd make a list of just top 10 songs that don't get played and the music is very available...I'm not talking off the wall stuff here but legit hits..

I've Done Enough Dying Today-Larry Gatlin..#7 1979..Beautiful song and you never hear it on our local Classic Country Station....Shame...

Lots more than that, most of the ones you hear on the Opry still tour. Loretta Lynn was but recent health issues may have stopped her. Merle Haggard was fairly active until he has suffered some recent health issues. The problem being that they mostly play smaller venues and second tier fairs so unless you live near those places you might not be aware. Many of them do have web sites and Ray Price is on Facebook. Probably not him but someone for him.

You can find on Google if they have websites or FB pages. Sometimes a Google search will get you to a booking agency or bring up news stories about their activity.

And those "health issues" would have stopped other performers in their tracks, but not "The Hag". Merle had cardi-problems in the 1990's. Early in the new millenium he was diagnosed with lung cancer. All that, plus acknowledged challenges of substance abuse, and Merle's still performing. He's 76.
