Artistic Ft. Wayne Sale to Oasis Approved

This FCC ruling was reported today on AllAccess:
"In another license challenge, the Commission approved the sale of WBTU and WVBB/FORT WAYNE, IN by ARTISTIC MEDIA PARTNERS to RUSS OASIS' OASIS RADIO 1 CORP. and OASIS RADIO 2 CORP., respectively, over a challenge from THREE AMIGO'S BROADCASTING, which alleged an "extortion" attempt by OASIS to get THREE AMIGO'S to pay for OASIS not to flip any of its stations to Spanish in competition with THREE AMIGO'S WGBJ/FORT WAYNE. OASIS countered that the proposal was not a "take it or else" offer but just one of several business options discussed between the parties. The Commission ruled that the dispute is based on differing interpretations of the same situation, and that the matter belongs in another forum such as with federal or state antitrust panels."

It is remarkable despite the "he said she said" aspect the Commission failed to take ANY action to investigate or require Oasis to submit more information.

This had all the makings of Burdon and WIFE. More actual documentation than Burdon.

If you're ever ready to loose your license see who his attorney was.

Maybe artistic will take some of the money and buy some remote equipment so that their Purdue Pre-game show can actually be broadcast quality. They bailed out of the Ohio State pre-game show because the quality was so poor and they should have bailed out of today's Iowa game show.

Not even Paris and Brittany could escape justice. What the FCC is saying, this isn't their job.
They will wait to see if Indiana or the United States convict. Then they would revoke the licenses.
Sounds like big attorney fees. OUCH!!!

Man, was that horrible or what?! This same problem has been occurring for at least 3 or 4 games now. It honestly makes me wonder if the morons are even aware that it's happening. I was cussing Amateur Media Partners for like 10 minutes!!! The opening kickoff was dead-air.

I'm holding out hope that WASK will scoop up Purdue Sports in the next couple of years, because AMP has totally dropped the ball with something that could be so much fun to produce.

I don't think Artistic will be walking away with much money....if any at all.

If I remember, they bought the Ft. Wayne stations for about $8 mil....and then sold them for around $4 mil. My guess is they'll barely be able to cover their bank notes on the origonal purchase loans.

What happens now?
Old Skool moves to town and spends the next 12 months telling everyone how great the new owner is, and how, despite Arbitron numbers to the contrary, HIS stations are really number one, but because he's "independent," there is a conspiracy to keep him down.

At least he'll be spending less time in Indy.
