As a tribute....

That's one of the reasons the "You" campaign worked so well at KFRC while some of the other RKO stations couldn't wait to dump it. There were also versions by Steve Miller, The Doobie Brothers and The Bee Gees. Michael Spears and Les Garland took extra steps at KFRC...and it paid off.

One last memory comes to mind...around the same time that Machine Gun Kelly was at KHJ...doing his "Machiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine Gun!" yell over as long an intro as possible, I heard Marvelous Mark McKay do the exact opposite over the 47 second intro to the Pointer Sisters' "Yes We Can Can"...saying "KFR" really fast over the first second...pausing for :45 over the intro, and then a split-second before the vocal saying "C!".
