As if 50,000 watts wasn't enough...

That's how the teaser on 1080 started this morning, and finished with "WTIC takes the next step soon".

Who else thinks this means a netstream?

(What else could it possibly mean?)

It would make sense. Many other "local" Infinity AM's are webcasting: WINS, WCBS, KYW, WBZ.

I'm probably taking a wild guess (sarcasm), but it's online streaming for 'TIC--wonder if this means that UCONN games will be available over the web?

UConn football is already available via Yahoo. Yahoo Sports picks up the live broadcasts of most major college football games each fall. I've been listening to the WTIC stream via Yahoo since 2001.

Is that through the old "Broadcast.com" that Yahoo! bought?
______________

It is definitely web streaming. It was announced somewhere they'd start it in June (geez, is it June already?).

The poster below is correct, UConn football is on Yahoo. So are men's and women's basketball. And it's all free! (So far.) It's great hearing Wayne Norman and Joe D again.

Yep.

For some reason I thought they shut it down for not being profitable...after the kabillions they paid Mark wathizname for it.
______________

***Yaoo picked up when Broadcast.com went by the wayside. It was off the air for a while but I do know that Yahoo was up and running by the start of college football season in 2001.

Yahoo did buy out broadcast.com, then during the middle of the big internet streaming CARP battle, Yahoo decided to shut down broadcast.com leaving dozens of content providers scrambling for a new host and turned it into launch.com (now yahoo.music.com) I don't have much on the details of the whole thing, but I think if you search for Kurt Hanson's RAIN newsletter, it has all of that in the archives somewhere.

***Thanks for the info DJ. I listened a bit to broadcast.com but not a great deal. I was only concerned with UConn football.
