Per Chronicle Datebook:

The A's are about to sign with 1550 am (but hope to develop a network).

Per Sporting Green:

The A's hope to announce something this week regarding radio.

Sorry, too lazy to look up the sports link and I don't believe the Pink is on the web (although I could be wrong). SFGATE.com if someone does not want to put out the $1.50.

Or they could just click this link, the only result found after putting "KYCY" into the SFGate search engine:

Stupid CBS I can't get 1550!

That's per Ben Fong-Torres' "Radio Waves" column.

But don't forget that you read it here first and in RadioInfo.com back in November.

I don't know how often Ben reads my scribblings, but he recently mentioned to me that he does peruse it from time to time.

Don't blame you...neither the team nor the radio station are worth much effort. :D

I don't doubt that... I know for sure that local media columnists here read my stuff...

But from BF-T's column, it sounded like he may have gotten a hint or two out of CBS Radio/SF's Doug Harvill. It sure did make a lot of sense after the item you noted in that link, about the baseball show moving to KYCY back then.

People that bought single game tickets at the A's fanfest yesterday say that 1550am/860am is already printed on the back of the tickets.
Edited by mrradioguy99 on 01/30/06 06:23 AM.

Seriously? I spoke at length on Friday with Someone Who Knows About KTRB, and if the A's are printing single-game tickets with KTRB/860 on the back, that might be a bit of a surprise to the people at KTRB.

The station is in a hold on its move to the Bay Area due to issues regarding one of the transmitter sites -- gee, guess which one -- but they should be rolling in about three months ... meaning about the time baseball season is in full swing.

Who are the people that said they had the single-game tickets? Did you actually see the tickets?

See them? Of course not, pure message board fodder from an A's site and in fact where I stole my original post from.

Here is the link (look most of the way down, a couple people say that it is on their ticket):

Oh and the Reds and the Indians are a team to be reckoned with?
The tix could be premature. Don't count out 1220 ... may be still in the running and hopefully something will come this week. IMO -A good signal and a good team will help the East Bay!

ADD: KTRB 860 and the A's

Wow -- here's what one of the posters in the A's Clubhouse on Scout.com wrote:

>
I have it right here on the back of an A's-Dodgers bleacher ticket stub for jun 18th

It reads:

Listen to the A's all season long on KYCY 1550 AM Oakland / San Francisco
KTRB 860AM Plesanton / Livermore / Sacramento / Modesto
>

If that's already been printed on tickets, and they haven't even announced it to the general public yet ... man, is that weird.

Jeeeeeeez. The only place I've seen KNTS/1220 mentioned was when I was misquoted in the Alameda Newspaper Group (Tribune/Argus/Daily Review/Herald). Aside from that misquote, who else has said anything about KNTS getting the A's?

Isn´t KTRB still operating as a Modesto station until the upgrade?

KTRB is a Modesto station. It will not become a San Francisco station until later this year.

That's just advertising on the back of the tickets -- not a "legal ID" -- but the station comes in like a local here in Livermore/Pleasanton. Much better than KYCY does.

Looks like the Oakland A's have said something about KNTS. Nice insight, Nomae.

Don't bang on Nomae for that one, Shooty. Read the post again: I said it, not Nomae.

And I've already done my mea culpas in another thread farther up this page.
