As SLC Goes...Does KFWhyEye?

When Clear Channel moved top rated talkers from Ancient Modulation to FM in Salt Lake City : http://www.knrs.com/pages/fm.html they had to figure out what to do with the AM frequency (5kw @5~Seventy with a CP for 50kw). Voila...becomes Freedom 5~Seventy with to be announced new calls and a bunch of syndicated talkers the FM can't accomodate. Nurse Jeff and I are smellin' winds of change here in the Valley with 95~Five the most likely new home for KFWhyEye and 5~Fifty the new home for the likes of Dave Ramsey, Neil Bortz, Laura Ingraham, Clark Howard, Bill Handel, etc.

Gee...what other N/T in SLC moved to FM a couple of years ago? And didn't the same outfit do the same with a Glendale FM here? It's only a matter of time.

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock

"KSL-FM Midvale, KSL Salt Lake City" (and that's without any HD IDing that
may or may not apply).

Strangely, it took them a while before they were annunciating the legals...
legally. I even recall hearing some of that "...AM & FM..." crap early on.

OTOH, the KT'Rs were always IDed properly from the get go.

The CC #1 throwaway AM will be a piling ground for Premiere shows like Jason Lewis, a new Bill Handel show, and others. Of course, I'm sure if anyone wanted 910/1230, they'd be happy to sell them to you. What a waste of space.

I still don't understand the need for Talk FM. And apparently neither does anyone else in the top 20 except for Washington and Boston. Regardless of the what was expected to happen to KYOT with the coming of PPM, it still does reasonably well. I can't see swapping revenue from 550 to 95.5 and having to backfill the 95.5 void into 550. In Salt Lake, the FM frequency was much less successful than KYOT.

When KFI or WABC moves to FM, I'll be sold. ;)
