As suspected... Roy Barboza to Hot 96.9

According to the press release on the GM site, he's picked up MD stripes and will also oversee mix shows. This station is certainly getting very interesting. Wonder if they'll get Balthazar or Deirdre back on board.

You all will disagree with me, but I have to say (Both) "Touch 106.1", "Big City 101.3", and "WXLO" (WXLO "Friday Night Fix") They ALL sound better than "HOT 96.9"
Their music selection are much better, especially their Mix shows

I'll take WXLO as legitimate because it's a real radio station.

The other two are pirates. Let's see how they sound if they actually had to make some money to pay people to work there.

I saw his mug in the trades yesterday... Looks like Casper. (I'm no spring chicken myself, but...)

How can you compare a station that is still in the process of SETTING UP their station and hasn't had any mixers yet, to stations already with mix/specialty shows? It says Roy was hired to supervise/oversee the Mixers and the overall Music direction of the station. Once that gets going, then you can compare..

With that said, glad Roy Barboza is on board.. I can't wait to hear the mixshows too. According to the press release, he'll be doing mixes himself too.

I just don't understand your fascination with syndicated shows and/or pirate stations, If touch 106 or whatever wanted to be legal i'm sure they could maybe get a job in radio or maybe get some investors together and buy an existing station or something like that, And as for your syndicated shows if there was a market for it here don't you think it would be on Boston radio??

It is much too early to make that kind of judgement.

I like the direction they are going in. They are definitely hiring the right people. Jill Strada who PD'd Hot 97 and kiss fm in NY and recently Power 96 in Miami. Knows this type of format well. Roy Barboza who's been djing around Boston for years. Has a pretty good sense on the vibe of the city. Once everyone is in place. It will be interesting to see how they sound a couple of months from now.

Touch 106.1 is not a pirate, it is a legal Low Power FM station. It has a LEGAL signal that can be heard as far south as Canton and up to Chelsea.

Touch 106.1 is about as legal as the hookers on dot ave

Their real format: Baltazar is reuniting with Pebbles in the morning.

Don't be surprised if at least part of the show is simulcast on TV. Greater Media should seriously investigate that possibility.

Melissa Moves to PM Drive

Melissa will move to afternoon drive (2-7) with Baltazar and Pebbles now together on morning drive (6-10).
