As you fire up your grill for Memorial Day...

What stations will be firing up the turntables? I hope the "new" Hot 107.9 here in the DFDub will be doing something this summer.

I don't know about Memorial Day, but I do know our new Hot 107.9 here in the DFDub is going to start mixing this weekend. I'm looking forward to hearing that.

Is the new Hot 107.9 a clone of 98.5 The Beat in San Antonio? ???

I believe it is, because the Djs that will be mixing on 107.9 this weekend is from 98.5.

I hope Chicago's WGCI will do something. I listen to them and The Heat on Sirius XM. I guess I could always stream other rhythmics and urbans. I've been enjoying a lot of the new urban hits these days, especially the trap music sound.I wish they'd use more trap beats with r&b vocals on it.

Dub-Trap also sounds good, too, and I wonder if any urbans in the US (other than the occasional V103 5 o clock mixshow plays) will play it. Speaking of Dub-Trap, I guess I could stream BBC Radio 1Xtra from London. They have hours of exclusive r&b, hip hop, trap, dub-trap, dubstep, house, dancehall/reggae, electro-soul and all kinds of "black music" that is ignored here in the US.

97.9 The Beat is about to kick off the "Memorial Day Mixmaster Weekend". I still think Hot 107.9 is about to do something at 5pm as well....

WHTA ATL is talking trash about STREETZ, lol

They're indirectly accusing "other people" of trying to mix like them.
They said they feel this weight around their crotch area; a feeling like someone needs to get off their nuts.

Anyway, KZON and KKFR will surely be putting it down starting at 5. KKFR mixes all weekend every weekend anyway. I think KMVA may do something ON Memorial Day as well. Funny how KMVA regularly sounds Hot AC or Adult Top 40 but then has regular chr holiday mixes that almost lean rhythmic. Not sure who else is doing anything here in AZ.

I'm sure KOHT Hot 98.3 Tucson will be putting it down on the turn tables all weekend as well.

Lastly, I bet Power 106 LA started a few hours ago, lol.

Hot was doing bass music and remixes. Some new, some old like "baby baby" by Kilo Ali. Was a good little set of r&b style bass, but why did they end it with the original version of "no hands" by Waka Flocka? There is a bass remix version of that song they could've used...

ATLANTA

STREETZ 94.5 kicked off the "Memorial Day Weekend Streetz Mix" at 3pm.

HOT 107.9 kicked of the "Memorial Holiday Weekend Hot Mix" at 5pm!

Here's the official report from Dallas/Ft. Worth:

97.9 The Beat:"The Memorial Day Mixmaster Weekend". "97 hours of mixing" kicking off their "97 Days of Summer". Mixes are very crunk and dirty south.

Hot 107.9:"The Memorial Day Hot Mix". "107 hours of mixing" kicking off their "107 Days of Summer". Mixes are crunk, dirty south, and edm.

Do I smell competition?....

The mixers are all live from SA with exception for one, Dj AK is in Houston.

Dj Mr. E, Xavier, Dj Ocean and Dj Robbie Rob are all from The Beat and mixing in SA, as well.

Not hearing any crunk or dirty south. A lot of pop right now....

I consider artists like Lil' Wayne dirty south. I guess it all depends on how you classify it. Heck, I'm 43 years old, so what do I know?....

By the way, Hot 107.9 is mixing around the clock.

I noticed. They've been mixing since I went to sleep and still are. But they aren't anymore dirty south than our Phoenix CHR/Rhythmic stations while we're mixing.

Man, I wish Power 107.5 here in Columbus, OH. would mix like that. I grew up down south and was used to hear mixing on the radio. I especially liked that holiday marathons and the one's live from the clubs. SMH :-[
