Why is Dallas/Ft. Worth radio so dead right? It's not like every radio station in the metroplex is sounding good and doing good numbers-wise. What is the deal? Is everyone satisfied with what they are hearing?

It's called being homoginized by the boards. Passion and compelling radio is Dead here, and dying elsewhere. Only consultants, corp owners, boardrooms and their lackeys are in denial. The plus side,it cures chronic insomnia.

I think a lot of listeners don't care anyway. Radio lost it's passion and became a SAFE JUKEBOX with bland liner card readers. I think a lot of the listeners went to talk-radio where personality, fun and local and even controversy thrives. Those ingredients thrived on top 40 and AC fm's in the 70's, 80's and part of the 90's. Slowly the failed program directors who were against all that turned to consultants and the rest is history as they say.

I listen to talk radio for the "talk", which is sometimes interesting, and sometimes too predictable.....

But, in DFW, when I want to hear hear some Music, of the Rock variety, other than the AM-ish Top 40 Hits -- of all the stripes of Rock..... I really have NOWHERE to turn.

Thanks to Corporate Conglomeration.... we now have more flavors of stations than ever..... But they're all serving a bland, bland dish.

Frankkly, I hear better music and more passion on the music breaks of TALK SHOWS!
At least over there, some still have a soul!

That's a good point. I too hear better bumper songs than music on music stations. You want to really hear good music especially if you're female go to Tom Thumb, Your local boutique shop, Yahoo Launch, even at the gas pumps.
