The ratings are out for Fall '07. Any big surprises in Asheville. It looks like the market's AM signals all gained (WWNC, WPEK, WMXF, WISE). Some more than others. All the local FM's slid a little with the exception of 105.9 The Mountain WTMT.

Does this mean a possible return of SuperTalk 1350 WZNN? ::)

Not without management that the ownership will leave to run the place correctly.
And leave the format alone for more than 5 minutes.
Sheesh, why don't I tell you how I REALLY feel.

I think they're in, what, their fifth format since the flip from talk? Sports, then country, then AC - I think they're bluegrass now? ??? Agreed, a little stability could have help the station maintain an audience - not to mention some patience... And who knows, maybe WZNN would have been one of the AM-ers to enjoy a gain in this book this time around... I saw those ratings, virtually every single AM station is there, even the religious station, and a country WPTL! No sign of 'ZNN, or 'ZGM or whatever their call letters are...

That's why they have an 'IT' man for an oil company managing the stations. LOL If it makes sense, they ain't gonna do it. We see it everyday. People running these stations that have no business being any further down the hall than the reception area! ;)

I understand CC-Asheville is in a pretty bad mood! KISS, Rock 104, and Star did very bad. WWNC did ok. As usual they are once again trying to conceal how bad they did from the staff. Maybe the great Bruce Logan can come flying in to save the day. Yeah Right!

No, I think they are running Oldies now...at least, that's what it sounded like when I was down that way on Tuesday. It actually almost sounded like a 24-hour format. I did hear quite a few ads, though.

Being Asheville is Market 100+, CC is probably waiting for a new owner to pawn this cluster off on...

Not sure if I've asked this before...but are the WZ?? ;D studios still in downtown Asheville? They're trying to cater more now to the Swannanoa Valley--presumably the reality of the night signal has sunk in. So, I figure maybe they've moved closer to Black Mtn?

By the way, howdy to you Cumberland Gap guys!! Hope you are doing well!!

Eric

Yes, they have in fact moved back to Black Mountain, and they actually have some nice studio space near downtown. All in all, I have to say, the station sounded better this week than it has in ages.

1350 WBMS/WAVJ/WZNN/WZGM still streams online:

(apparently the old calls "live on" in the stream URL)

Oh, and you know your station has made it when it has its own Wikipedia page!

You missed some calls...there was WONO, and was it WTZK or something like that? Didn't they simulcast with 880 when that frequency first went on the air? I think there were some other calls, too, but the mind is foggy.

I listen mostly to Star 104.3, but even they are starting to get a little boring with there all 80's weekends. Sometimes during the weekdays they sound a little (hotter) than hot ac. Any comments on star?

1350 has the legendary "GT" doing mornings. He has been in the business for 35 years, and programmed KISS in the mid to late 90s. They had a 22-25 share then!
