It does cover Asheville as our moderator has stated, the problem is
there is not much going on in our little 'burg on most of the stations.
And yes, I run a station in town...but I must say that most of the
frequencies are afraid to make any noise for fear of the Clear Channel
monopoly stifling their voices. As an independent, I can hit issues
that people actually care about because I have the backing of ownership.
This little 10kw tends to get guests with the local hosts that rival
the nationals hands down.
Sheesh, could I make this into an infomercial or whut?!?
I hate self-aggrandizement.
So let me tell you a little more about me...oh wait, I'll leave that
up to the "humble" guys across town.
Sarcastically,
The Spindoctor

Hey, Whammy1978...

Could the name of this board not have "Asheville" added? There's "Raleigh/Greensboro", so why not "Charlotte/Asheville"?

When the North Carolina board was broken down sometime back now, Asheville was orignally lumped together with Eastern Tennessee. There was a lot of confusion as to where the Asheville market could post. Lance (Site Administrator) decided to move the Asheville market discussions to this board. The name of the board wasn't changed to reflect that.

I wouldn't be opposed to a name change of the board to Charlotte/Asheville or Charlotte/Western North Carolina. It would be more accurate as to what is being discussed.
______________

Isn't there enough discussion on Asheville for an Asheville forum that covers Asheville and WNC? Usually 60% of the topics on the Charlotte forum are Asheville related. I've never liked the Raleigh-Greensboro forum name. Great forum, bad name. It should be "Central NC" forum. Who would I contact to have that name changed?

If you would like for Asheville to have it's own board, you would have to get in touch with Lance or SamBuca. You can leave a post for them at the "Ask Radio-Info" board.

I did send a e-mail to Lance with the thought of renaming this board to either Charlotte/Asheville or Charlotte/Western North Carolina. I have yet to hear back from him concerning it.
______________

I agree...I think that most likely the majority of us who are active on this particular board are actually WNC folks anyway. Thanks to wncmacs, we even have our own website! The Kentucky board is as dead as Ceasar...we are lucky to have such an active WNC community!

And, by the way, speaking of Kentucky, I'm settled in and having a WONDERFUL time. Thanks so much for all the emails lately asking how things are going. I almost have the staff sorted out, and we are going to start renovations soon. The new transmitters and Omnias will be ordered next week, and I just ordered jingles and imaging this afternoon. You all have a standing invitation to stop by and visit any time. Remember, Middlesboro is only a flat two hours from Asheville. Just ask anybody in town where WFXY/WXJB/WANO is, and they'll point out the way. We are sorta a landmark. That, and I think at least half the town must be on my payroll...gotta get that fixed!

Since so many of us have listenable Charlotte signals in our markets, I'm glad that Asheville is lumped with Charlotte. It helps us keep up with what's happening in "the big city."

Saw an ad for a CE position in Asheville. Anyone knows who that is? A friend of mine would be interested.

THANKS
