Assistant Promotions Job Opening -- 97.1 The Eagle

The Eagle posted a job opening today on their MySpace blog for a Promotions Assistant. It reads:

"Want to work for the Eagle?

Wanna work for the Eagle? Were looking for part time promotions guru's..Here's your chance to BE the Eagle! Part Time Promotions Assistants are the face of the Eagle. If you are responsible, very outgoing, and your not scared of a little hard work, then this job is right down your alley..

You'll be responsible to help run Eagle events on the street across the entire DFW Metroplex.. You've gotta be cool and comfortable with walking up and talking to strangers about the radio station..NO WUSSIES ALLOWED!!

The Eagle is currently looking for great men and women. All applicants must be 18 years of age. You've got to have a valid drivers license, be able to lift at least 50lbs, have a flexiable scheulde and be ready to have FUN!!"

What kind of work does that entail and how well does it pay?

Stock the promotions van at the studio.... 50 pound boxes of giveaway items and any remote audio equipment like P.A. speakers, etc. Minimum wage...
 
It can be a fun job, really...but some kiddos will do this, thinking it's a career path that leads to an on-air position. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. If you're not a kid, you probably won't want to hang out at seedy Deep Ellum clubs, double-parking the station van next to a group of bums while you haul equipment in and out, then having to deal with drunk teens and 20-somethings falling all over the equipment and harassing you for free t-shirts.

I think CC pays $8 an hour. I was making $10/hour doing a MUCH easier promo job at The Oasis 5 years back.
 
I did promotions for over 2 years. Its a fun job but dont expect to get paid much. $6-$8 an hour, possibly a little more.

You are just going to be going out to events at places like car dealerships, gas stations, concerts etc. and promoting the station. Give away shirts and have people sign up for stuff.
 
I did promotions with Radio Disney AM620 for a year and got $6.00 an hour. Not worth it, especially when you've got to be around some really obnoxious kids.
 
Neither, but they did ask me to dress up as Donald Duck. ??? Not to mention Buddy McNutty. Or was it a Cabbage Patch Kid??? :-\

Heh... I think they meant "...must be at least 18...".
