AT&T U-Verse equipment explodes and bursts into flames

Apparently, backup batteries in AT&T's U-Verse street side equipment have exploded or caught fire four times in the past two years. No injuries have been reported.

AT&T is going to replace all of the batteries (17,000 of them). The company that AT&T bought the batteries from has gone out of business.
