AT&T U-Verse Pulls a CABLEVISION

First at the end of August U-Verse dropped Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel. Now they've dropped the 5 Scripps Networks - Food Network, Cooking Channel, HGTV, DIY, and Great American Country.

Food Network and Cooking Channel are different. While Cooking Channel shows some recycled Food Network Cooking shows, they don't show any of the competition shows that Food Network has. They only have on competition show - Iron Chef Japan. (A leftover show from its days as FLN). Cooking Channel also has a lot of different cooking shows than Food Network. And Great American Country still shows a lot of videos. They don't have these stupid reality shows and movies like CMT does.

Well I can't see AT&T staying in the broadcast business. They tried once before with Cable TV when they had AT&T Broadband during the infancy of Satellite TV of the mid 1990s-early 2000s & dumped that onto Comcast. Before that, they stopped being the carrier for NBC & CBS during the days of Old Time Radio as they stated that the system just simply couldn't handle the load.

AT&T is so short-sighted. As such, they'd just assume make fast $$$ with the new medium they claim to have "Pioneered" or take over & then (After tanking it by making DUMBASS moves like the one you just described) BAIL ON IT by dumping their system onto some sucker willing to take it off their hands. Their own historical track record is proof of this.

So the simple fact they've dropped all those channels from U-Verse shouldn't be a surprise to anybody.

Just my opinion.....

Cheers :D

Quite literally, It's all about the backlash. First it was News Corp-who threatened to pull its cable channels from Cablevision & Dish, And back in August, it pulled Hallmark off of its lineup. I believe Comcast, and DirecTV have really been the most reliable companies when it comes to quality television. because when you're an AT&T customer, you know you'll be missing such great shows as "Rachael Ray" & "Holmes on Holmes".

Travel Channel wasn't dropped also? As I thought it was now owned by Scripps.

Also another good country music video channel is CMT Pure Country.

The Travel Channel's contract might just be a grandfathered deal between AT&T and previous owner Discovery.

Once they changed ownership they were moved to digital cable and replaced with Nick Jr. (when the switch happend Nick Jr. was still called Noggin)

Deal was reached Sunday afternoon and Scripps channels are available again. Now they should go back to Crown Media and negotiate some more to get back Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel.
