ATL DX Conditions

DX conditions seem to be pretty good this morning and the last couple mornings. Some examples:

WQZY 95.9 out of Dublin is coming in well, not getting bled on by Project too bad.
WVRK 102.9 out of Columbus is fighting with Majic 102.9. Is that @$#%@ translator still on the air? My radio kept going back and forth between the two stations with nary a peep from the translator.
WSSL 100.5 out of Spartanburg is spitting all over Rock100.5 pretty bad.
WUSY 100.7 out of Chattanooga is also coming in well.

Anybody else getting anything interesting? I need to see if WBBQ (104.3, Augusta) is coming in.

Agree. The DXing conditions have been superb as of late.

On the FM side, Chattanooga and Macon have been duking it out over the 96.5 frequency.

On the AM side, outside of the regular New Yorks and Chicagos, you were able to pick up a strong French-Canadian signal out of Montreal after dusk.

I've got a McIntosh MR-78, Carver TX-11B, the new little Sony, and an NEC T-6 in my garage and all hooked up to my humongus antenna system. (Big yagi with Channel Master signal booster preamp on the pole and power amp in my den cabinet.)

My son recently told me he had heard a classic rock station,106.5, out of Chattanooga sometimes when he was driving through the north Georgia Mountains.

I told him, "Let's try it". I went up to my den and turned the antenna rotator to due north (Exactly 100 miles to the station's tower btw.) The station locked in loud and clear on the McIntosh, Carver, and Sony but got some splatter on the NEC from Atlanta's awful 106.7.

Can't win them all but anyone with a good tuner needs a roof antenna. Most FM now is sh*t but I started down this road just to pick up Tom Taylor's Spam & Grits. ; * )

Couple of weeks ago I was picking up a CHR (sorry Dwulf) out of Tuscaloosa, somewhere in the 97's if memory serves. Same day, there was a "Magic" something-or-other from Birmingham that was blowing in strong. Haven't heard either before or since.

I always wondered if the one person who listened to my radio show was still alive.........
We had a "send in yer picture for a prize" contest back in those early days. We asked for pictures of the antenna used tp pick up WRFG (we had heard some pretty interesting stories.) Some damn funny pictures......I remember one with two Tabby cats and somethin' glued to their arse.......
I wonder if anyone kept some of those pics - there were a few that were quite interesting - aesthetically and electrically. Amazing what a imaginative human being and a few yards of tin foil can accomplish.......

WROQ 101.1 (Anderson, SC/GSP) was coming in GREAT this morning. Unfortunately, they had John Boy & Billy on.
