ATL Morning Shows?

Hey...I'm new to the Atlanta area, and basically, the only time I listen to the radio is on my morning drive into work, and I'm looking for something to listen to then. Any reccomendations?

Depends upon what you like - there are several.

Personally, I like The Regular Guys on 96 Rock (96.1 FM, WKLS). They also have a blog/website: http://www.regularguys.com

I'm sure you'll get a LOT of opinions re: which ones are better, worse, etc. (and why.....)

Well, I'm coming from NY, so naturally I basically lived off of Howard Stern, but I'm also not a big enough fan to get Sirius (at least not yet).

I'm also a big sports fan - I grew up listening to WFAN in NY. I wouldnt mind a good sports-talk show, but I don't need straight sports talk at 7 AM either.

I like Mayhem in the AM on 790 the Zone. Its definitely not straight sports. Pretty funny guy talk, disfunctional personalities, etc. Give it a shot.

Classical music on 91.1 WREK.

I like Mayhem as well. They've really improved since Nick came aboard and Dantanna's Rapid Fire is my favorite segment of the show.

If you like cheesy old people - STAR 94 Steve and Vicki (94.1)
If you are a backwards red necks - 96rock The Regular Guys (96.1)
If you are a libertarian who worships Bush - Boortz AM 750
If you like a funny morning show that will disappear this year after the station flips - Toucher, Jimmy, and Leslie on 99x. (99.7)
If you like to cry and use tampons - Q100 The Burt Show (100.5)
If you are a backwards redneck - Kicks 101.5
If you like rap and r&b plus speak ebonics - V-103 - Frank Ski
If you like a rap, speak ebonics, and suck on the air - Hot 107.9 - The A-Team

Now this list makes sense. I didn't quite understand the Classical music suggestion for someone who proclaims to have enjoyed Howard Stern. I still hope that 99X will be left alone! That would be the logical choice given the glimpse into his/her preferences.

My thoughts...

I listen to either the Regular Guys on 96 rock (96.1 FM) or Mayhem in the AM on 790 The Zone (sports talk). Those are the best two morning shows in Atlanta, IMO.

For what it's worth -

During the morning drive time I listen to sports talk on 680 the Fan, news on WSB (750AM) and blues on WRFG (89.3FM).

Everyone in Atlanta listens to Sunny 100.1. It's the highest rated station in the market. It has approx. 4 million listeners at any one time.
______________
It's radio, not brain surgery - Jim deCastro

When in Atlanta, listen to 85 FM DIRK!
