ATL Urban Radio 2018

Im trying to keep up with all the changes going on in town with our urban stations.

Kiss 104.1 ditched TomJoyner for local Art & Roy. Sasha moves to afternoons replacing Michael Baisden and Mitch Faulkner exits weekends. Also, I hear more current urban contemporary music like Rihanna’s “Wild Thoughts” being played.

Boom 102.9 will no longer have Ed Lover and Monie in mornings and DJ Nabs exited afternoon drive about a month or 2 ago.

87.7 flips from Old School to Mix with Urban AC music from the 80s to Now. Russ Parr exits mornings replaced by local Porscha Foxx. Jeffrey Charles joins for nights.

Am I missing anything else?
Whats going on lol?

Rodney Ho wrote that rumor has it that Tom Joyner is coming to Boom for mornings. That would make sense for a couple of reasons: 1) Joyner has a fan base, albeit older, that would likely move over, and 2) It would give Reach Media, majority owned by Radio One, an Atlanta affiliate, which is necessary to sell national advertising on Joyner's show.

What about the format? Boom is throwback hip-hop with no R&B. Wouldn’t a move like that kind of hurt Steve Harvey on Majic? I would’ve thought Hegwood would’ve snatched Joyner for 87.7. Wonder if he will put Baisden or DL Hughley in afternoons?

The rumor is Boom in its current form will go away.
