Atlanta Arbitron Radio Ratings: May 2013

Atlanta: http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb047

Overall age 6+ publicly released data is for the May 2013 survey period covering Thu. 4/25/13-Wed. 5/22/13.
Next survey period will be June 2013 (covering Thu. 5/23/13-Wed. 6/19/13) with the data release date being Tue. 7/9/13
(delayed one day due to Independence Day).

WUBL-HD3 0.2 0.4 0.4 0.4 News/Talk Clear Channel Communications Inc.

News/Talk??? I have not rotated up the dial lately to see what is there. WGST was sports during this ratings period. Anybody know what the real programming was on WUBL-HD3?

WSB-AM is up...maybe folks settling in with Herman Cain?

Q100 seems to be positively affected...with both Star and Power 96 taking hits.

Radio 105.7 seems to be a winner.

AN is up to a 1.8...slowly building. Will be interesting to see if a reconstituted WGST poses any threat (I doubt it)

92.9 and 790 are neck and neck...about as exciting as watching paint dry.

The Walk is stuck at a 0.1. Not looking good unless they have great sales or ratings in-demo.

Urban AC has +20% of the market. (Cox's WALR might still beat the V but that is another thread). CC's WBZY is headed down, is there that much money in the Demo? 105.3 would be a powerful Urban signal. Why doesn't CC join the Urban wars or "swap" WAMJ for WBZY with Radio One?

great to see 105.7 already over a 3--the station sounds great and is a model on how to do alternative in an urban market. Someone here in New York City, please take note--

It RDS identifies it as 640 WGST, but I'm not hearing any audio.

Even when it works will it matter?  I not being sarcastic.  CC has killed 640 AM in Atlanta.

Is there any possibility 105.7 or 96.7 could get an upgrade? That 3.3 share is without any of Buckhead, part of Sandy Springs, Decatur, and most of the Midtown area - seems like they could be rating a 4.3 with those money areas

Not very easily, 105.3 and 106.1 make any improvement at 105.7 almost impossible, 97.1 (full class C) effectively stops any movement north for 96.7. CC is committed to CHR and Country and that ties up 94.9 and 96.1. CC owns 105.3 which IMHO is under performing but I can only guess there are a lot of Hispanic Agency buys in Atlanta which 105.3 should get the most of.

I pick up 105.7 in Buckhead just fine in the car. Inside is spotty depending on location in the building and radio antenna quality. Fortunately I have been able pick it up inside.

Radio 105.7 is targeting an audience in the suburbs of Atlanta, which is why they're doing as well as they are. That's not to say that a more-downtown signal wouldn't help ratings- it would- but for now they are fine where they are.

Time will tell, when and if 105.7 outperforms the Bull, then it might be time for a change. How many on-air staffers are employed there? Something like 2 local DJs?

I really like Radio 105.7. Unlike the recent reincarnations of 99X, which seemed stuck in the 90s and rehashing the same old music, Radio 105.7 seems to focus on a lot more new music and sounds fresher and more upbeat. It reminds me more of that 99X was when it first started. I also like that they are doing locals only. Bravo for a station in Atlanta finally trying something a little different!

In my opinion, Power 96.1 is going to continue to drop until they ad local talent in the drive time slots.

While All News may be experiencing a steady increase, it's interesting that WSB-AM has also seen a solid increase. Could the increases for those stations be based more on what's going on in the news (Boston Marathon bombings and Obama controversies) than anything else?

The latter would probably be true for WSB since there's been more about the Obama administration to rant about lately.

All News, on the other hand, is getting more exposure on Fox 5 than ever before. Be looking for TV ads and more billboards soon, per salesperson.

Something has to improve with POWER 96-1! It's no wonder it's ratings are dropping when, (for MONTHS)...the same 3 songs are still in power-rotation, playing (130 - 134 times a week)! IMO, it's ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Plus, omitting several songs that are in the Top 20. ???
