Atlanta based weekly radio program celebrating 60 years on the air

I apologize for the announcement, but I wanted to give you guys a heads up regarding a rarely seen anniversary in radio: 60 years of uninterrupted weekly broadcast.

"Day 1," formerly "The Protestant Hour," celebrated 60 years this summer. We've always been headquartered in Atlanta. WSB AM is our flagship station and has carried the program the whole time, as have five other stations in the southeast and midwest. We're on about 160 stations now coast to coast.

"Day 1" is also the only interdenominational program that features preachers from the moderate/progressive side of Christianity, the mainline protestant churches. The six participating denominations are:
·Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
·Episcopal Church
·Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
·Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
·United Church of Christ
·United Methodist Church

As Bob Abernethy, host of PBS’s “Religion and Ethics NewsWeekly,” said recently, “Yours is the only clear, intentional, and professional mainline voice on the air.”

On November 1, 2005, we're having a luncheon celebration here in Atlanta, and everyone's invited.
Time: Tuesday, November 1, 2005 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $50.00 (suggested donation)
Place: Trinity Presbyterian Church
3003 Howell Mill Road
Atlanta, Georgia
Participants:
The Rev. Dr. Scott Black Johnston (pastor, Trinity Presbyterian Church)
The Rev. Dr. Thomas Long (Candler School of Theology, Emory)
The Rev. Dr. Herbert O’Driscoll
The Rev. Dr. William Self (pastor, Johns Creek Baptist Church)
The Rev. Debra Samuelson (pastor for evangelism, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer)
Peter Wallace, executive producer and host, and Sherrie Miller, announcer

For more info: 404-815-9100

Okay, back to the regular programming.

Happy 60th Anniversary, Day 1! Longevity like that is a rare accomplishment in radio these days.

I thought for sure this post was going to be about The Alley Pat show. Is that guy still on?
