Atlanta Christmas Parade

Sitting here watching the Christmas Parade on Channel 2 this morning. This parade used to be much better than it is now. Anyone remember when the parade was sponsored by Macy's? A lot of what was used in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was used and the budget for the parade was much higher. I know the parade has always traditionally opened the Festival of Trees. I am wondering why Macy's pulled out. Anyways, Didn't Channel 5 broadcast the parade for awhile?

WAGA broadcast the Macy's parade until the late 90s. I think both parades were seperate.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, who is putting on the parade, is a nonprofit, so they can't afford much. The parade is produced by Aragon Parades, who organizes the WSB-TV 4th of July parade. Aragon's offices are in the WSB-TV/Radio studios, although I don't think Cox has any ownership. (They might).

Speaking of which, the picture on the analog signal was much better on the parade than the Macy's tree lighting on Thanksgiving. I wonder if WSB-TV rented HD equipment for this one.
