ATLANTA DIGITAL SUB CARRIERS and DIRECT TV..........

Hello, I have Direct TV in, Lawrenceville and I get all my Atlanta locals in HD just fine. On the Direct TV guide, they're all there.....(WSB 2, WAGA 5, WXIA 11, etc.) But, my question is, where are my local subcarriers?? (like WSB 2.2, WXIA 11.2, etc.) I know they exsist. I know that WSB 2.2 carries the Retro-Network. How can I get these digital subcarriers on my Direct TV?

Any thoughts?

Thanks! :)

AFAIK DirecTV does not carry digital subs yet. They were evasive as to when, or if, they might. I suspect they will push for more HD offerings instead of carrying subs which, in most markets, carry very little real programming.

If you are in range for OTA reception get yourself a converter box and an antenna.

If you were to switch to DISH Network, you would get every digital sub-channel except RTN at 2.2 and the GPB sub-channels at 8.2 & 8.3. GPB Kids is at 8.2, and GPB Knowledge is at 8.3.

:D Wow! That's a lot of them that I won't get then. Nah, I like my DirectTV too much.

It is a shame DirecTV is not carrying 2.2 and the 8.* channels.

You are better off using the converter box and a decent antenna. You'll get all the channels, they'll look better, and you can drop that part of the DirecTV bill every month.

Added bonus: you can dig out a VCR if you still have one and use it to record. Used my to tape Airwolf on 2.2 last weekend. It seems to "right" to be recording that old show on an 'old' VHS tape, you know? I am spoiled by my DirecTivo.
