ATLANTA LITE ON SUB CHANNELS

I'm sure WSB is quite pleased with their choice to put Retro TV on 2.2. B+
WANN 32 has loaded their station with subs......about 3 actually worth viewing. A

OTHER THAN THAT WHAT DO WE HAVE? Nobody has picked up the ball for Antenna-TV
yet, come on WAGA and WXIA.............you can do much better!!!

46 has a pass.........as most CBS don't have any subs.

5 has nothing. F

11 has a slate that 11.2 has been moved and very tired sports on 11.3 (yawn). F
The Dunwoody High School lunch room would be an improvement over these two subs.

36 now has weather radar on 36.2 (yawn) D+

69 has nothing F

Looks like 5, 11, 36, 46 and 69 have all missed the bus.

LET'S NOT FORGET................

8 PBS Kids & PBS 2 B+
14 ION, and kids junk F (see WXIA comment)
17 nothing F
30 nothing F

17 and 30 haven't made it to the bus stop, 14 uses a skate board.

I love how you give Meredith-owned WGCL a "pass" while failing CBS-owned WUPA. CBS DOES NOT allow any of its owned-and-operated stations to have any subchannels, anywhere. Affiliates like WGCL are free to do what they want, but Meredith has only weather subchannels and one station with Telemundo on a subchannel.

And just because you do not like Universal Sports or qubo does not mean that there aren't plenty of other people who do. I know a number of people with young children who love qubo, and I hear requests for Universal Sports far more frequently than I would have suspected. (I actually share your opinion on the content, just making the point there are those who do like it.)

Fox O&O stations also do not have subchannels except a few simulcasts (VHF problems) and the odd weather radar here and there. Fox is preserving their bandwidth for Mobile DTV.

Me TV has announced no affiliates at all yet even though I've heard significant murmurs of deals being worked on and Antenna TV is run by a company mired in bankruptcy and lawsuits whose only affiliates are those run by the same management (Local TV) and a few LP or LP-like stations which don't really have anything to lose. Cool TV and Country Network are really nothing to write home about, and I suspect your opinion of Untamed Sports would be similar to that of Universal Sports. That covers most of the big name subchannel networks.

(I do agree, though, that ION Life needs to be put out of its misery. I think they've been airing the same 10 episodes of the same programs since the network launched however many years ago it was.)

What exactly are you expecting?

I don't follow or watch 69, had no idea CBS owned it. If they do, they should sell it
and cut their loss. I was actually speaking of CBS network stations.

I think Universal Sports is a re-run repeat of C grade events. Those Qubos and kids
shows are probably better covered by other networks with better kids shows. BETTER
sports are also on countless other networks/stations.

Atlanta is lucky to have nothing on sub-channels than more junk I guess. But, Antenna-TV
is going to be the SUPERSTATION of subs and it looks like we'll be one of the top markets
in the country to miss out on it.

Why is that? Are they afraid of what it will do to the quality on the main channel or something?

Yes.

I'll admit, that I've watched Universal Sports more than I actually expected when it signed on.

I wonder why Turner (Time Warner) hasn't done any subchannels with 17, it's not like they don't have the money to do something.

WPCH would surely have the extra commercials to punch into a sub.

In the case of the CW and My Network TV (69, 36) there is always the slight chance
that the subs might be more popular than their regular programming.

Cable and satellite without subs is not a plus either (for 5 & 11). But some cable
systems are adding subs. I think WSB Retro TV 2.2 is on some cable systems.

Yeah, we have Retro TV (WSB) on Comcast in Marietta, also have Universal Sports (WXIA) too.

Now if only we could get Antenna TV and THIS!

Universal Sports has moved to 11.2. There is no longer a sub 3.

Most likely WXIA thought having 11.2 and 11.3 diluted Universal Sports -sub 3 being "not as good" sub 2.

So now both channels only have sub 2.

There has to be a reason WXIA moved 11.2 to 36.2 – but we don't quite know it yet.

GREAT! I think I watched Universal Sports about 30 minutes in 2010. Why can't
they put Antenna-TV on there and give WSB's Retro TV a run for it's money?
