Atlanta PPM: January 2013 Ratings

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb047

WSB-AM drops to 5.0
WYAY comes in at 1.3
WGST remains at 0.2
WZGC falls from 0.7 to 0.6
WNNX falls to 1.7

I have not had time to really study the numbers, but it appears there are some interesting changes in listener trends during this holiday book.

These are the Holiday 2012 ratings. January's ratings come out in February. That is no indictment on the poster, just a possible slip up.

save yourself the time, nothing to "study" in 6+ ratings.
Top 5 25-54
V, B 98, Magic, Kiss and River
Top 5 18-34
V, Hot, Power, Q, 105.3

for the all news zealots: 21st, new Game 25th.
January will be better barometer.

I'm guessing Christmas music on B98.5 and The Fish was more likely to attract listeners from Q100 and Star 94 than from Power 96-1.

In any case, I'm thinking by the March monthly we'll have a much better idea how things are shaking out among those stations. Also, it kind of looks like this was a bad month for male-targeted stations.

I think it's now time to pull Roddy's favorite move and move Patron to 105.7 and put something new on 105.3.

Just a few months ago CUMULUS predicted that Power would flop but it is already way ahead of them! It must hurt a lot Cumulus to see Q100 behind Star, Power and B98.5!

I have to say blowing up Project was probably the smartest move that Clear Channel has made in ATL in a long time...although ATL is now too lean in the rock space...which won't last.

Again, something is gonna give. First will be Wild. Then B98.5 and (more likely) Star and (even more likely) Q will need to sort things out.

The contrast between the performance of Cox vs Cumulus in their home market is quite striking. All of Cox's stations are in the top 10 while Cumulus has none. Cox owns almost 25% of the market with Cumulus owning less than 10% with the same number of stations (not counting Cumulus's translators and counting WSB-AM and WSBB-FM as one station). Hell, V-103 by itself almost equals the whole Atlanta Cumulus cluster.

Obviously the only thing keeping Rock 100 around is the Regular Guys contract.

Patron is only one place higher. IMHO they are both ready for a flip to something that produces bigger ratings.

IMHO: And The Regular Guy's billings. 100.5 could have a 0.1 (6+) as long as the sponsors are ponying up big $$$ TRG will stay on. Unless The regular Guys pull another stupid (IMHO non funny too) bathroom stunt*.

I actually heard the bathroom taping stunt on 96.1, I thought it was lame but it did help get them fired.

100.5 does well in Men 25-54 (and the associated billing too) in other dayparts as well. And there are certain advertisers (DUI lawyers and shoe shows, to name a couple) who can't or won't advertise anywhere else.

And Patron owns its target demo. It would probably do better still if it could get into Latino-heavy Gwinnett and Hall Counties better, which 105.7 does and 105.3 doesn't.
