Atlanta PPM: November 2012 Ratings

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb047

AN106.7 is flat.

WSB-AM had a big gain. I wonder how much of that is Rush and what is happening to the afternoon drive ratings with the new fake news show?

How much of the month is sports talk on 92.9?

Look at what WGST is down to now!

Rock 100.5 seems to have had its best book yet and that should keep the wolves at bay.

Power 96 continues to gain listeners and Wild continues to lose listeners.

For crying out loud!! What was WGST thinking?? 640 am would have made a great oldies station. STUPID people making STUPID decisions.

Hmmm...Sports on 92.9 has a 1.1 - I have an idea - flip it back!!!
So you're expecting a new talk station, with plenty of competition, to be top five in it's first book? CBS knows what's it's doing with Sports. In Cleveland, CBS blew up a well-performing Alt-rocker for sports and while the first few books were pathetic, it's ratings, just a year later, are already where the Alternative station were before the flip. And don't forget that sports is generally more advertiser friendly than AAA or Alt, so even if it matches Dave, it will bill a lot more. Sports, like other talk formats, take much more time to build an audience than music formats.

Atlanta isn't Cleveland, man - it isn't a hugely athletic/competitive city - and a 1.1 is ridiculous - I don't know any commercial stations in the country that survive with those kind of ratings, even initial ratings

Your story about the Sports station that took AN ENTIRE YEAR to match the ratings of the Alternative station it replaced just makes me think there's something political going on at CBS (involving sports talk radio) - for all we know, the Alternative station could've doubled in ratings during that entire year...

Bottom line, I don't think CBS is going to admit they made a mistake, at least not that quickly

I also can't believe people are commending Rock 100.5 for getting a 2.3 share - when Dave was getting these kind of ratings, people were ridiculing them left and right...

But Dave has four times the power, for roughly 2x the geographic coverage and much better building penetration.

Interestingly, WNNX has a CP to up their power 1000W and move 5 meters down the tower...while keeping that slight null towards cochannel WSSL in Greenville. http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?sr=Y&s=C&call=wnnx&x=0&y=0 For those of you playing at home, WSSL seems to have downgraded from a full C to a C0, although that might be old news. That might be what is letting WNNX turn it up a notch.

The survey took place from October 11 to November 7. The Game was on the air for all of 2 weeks during the survey. Those numbers mean virtually nothing to The Game.

Young people often move quickly when a new station comes on the air. With a station like 92.9, it's going to take months before we have an idea whether it will succeed. Sports listeners are passionate, and many are used to the hosts on The Zone and The Fan. They're not going to leave right away even with All-Sports on a major FM signal.

As far as Rock 100.5, its Men 18-34 and Men 18-49 numbers have been really good in recent months. You can't tell that by looking at 6+.

A cogent thought and those clowns in the Building of Death are mutually exclusive. ??? ???
