Anybody remember what the AM band was like in 1969? Formats, jocks, etc. Thanks

I have to cast some doubt on the accuracies of this site, When I visited WZGC (WGKA-FM) in 1973 they were owned by General Cinema and still transmitted
with a different horizontal and vertical 12 bay antenna system from the top of an office building in downtown Atlanta. Each antenna was powered by its own
Collins 830 series 10 Kilowatt power amplifier driven by a common 830 series IPA and exciter. (I would later become Director of Engineering for General Cinema)
The move to Peachtree was done by Milford Smith when First Media bought the station likely in the late 70's to early 80's. They were never on Peachtree as WGKA.

In the Billboard Magazine archives, which anyone can access, I found an article about WGKA in the 10/28/1967 issue. It stated that on October 1, 1967, the WGKA-FM antenna was moved to the top of a 27-story building in Peachtree Center, where was also where the studios were located. You might be thinking about the move to the top of the Peachtree Plaza Hotel, which probably happened sometime in the 70's. I believe the hotel opened in 1976.

When I first visited Atlanta in 1975, the WGKA-AM tower was just off Peachtree in Midtown, across from what became Vickery's.
