Wow -- sizable margin of victory for Power 96.1 over Q100!!! No wonder Adam Bomb is suddenly back to doing nights in Atlanta again. Won't be long until Power 96.1 is pounding Q100 into the ground on a regular basis.

This goes to prove that mainstream top 40 really works in the Atlanta market. Many folks said that this type of format would not work here. For all those many years we didn't have a mainstream top 40 station (nor did we have Casey Kasem) all I can say is someone really missed out on an opportunity to seize this much needed format here in Atlanta. Congratulations Power 96.1 and thanks for filling in this gap nicely!

Did FISH play Christmas music? That's the only way I can see them at the top. But, even that wasn't enough to get me to listen to FISH. Now, if they gave me some free salmon, I'd probably listen for a few minutes.

Yes, they did. However they were Christian-Christmas music oriented. Not your typical Christmas music station.

Better sounding all around. They have a sick club/mix show on Saturday nights. I was driving from a bar and they sounded legit.

On the other note, we have too many Urban AC's in the area.

I like Power's more dance sound vs Q's more Hot AC sound BUT I don't like Power's repetitiveness. I will give Q more credit on the fact they are not as repetitive.

BTW - I'm in St. Louis and the local CC top 40 station, z1077, is awful. Little to no dance oriented stuff and nearly all fun pop crap. Hell, I think Q sounds more like a real top 40 station than Z107 in St. Louis.

Overall I'm glad that a mainstream top 40 station (Power 96-1) is doing well but yes the repetitiveness is annoying. I've noticed that Power will not play a song until it dips into the top 20. They really promote being number 1 for new music but we have to wait several weeks for a song to climb the chart in order for it to play. Whereas Q seems to play most of the top 40 being careful to play more of the rhythmic tunes later at night when Adam Bomb is on the air. Q plays more recurrents (especially after Bert Show) whereas Power reserves the last 5 minutes of the hour before announcing the station ID to one recurrent.
