Atlanta trends

Thoughts?

Project continues to climb - good time for Marc Chase to mess it up with Kenny Wayne Sheppard songs.

It's amazing to me that WGST is only a tenth of a point behind WNNX 12+

Wow... when does Cumulus pull the plug and try something different on that great stick?

Bull is still flat, Star should be getting bigger numbers, and Dave actually had small spike.

I think no format change for 99x until after PPM hits the market. Rock station supposedly get b ig boost on the PPM's.

I struggle with what Project is doing on this new add's. I have no problem integrating some older songs but they seem out of place.

When is PPM going to hit Atlanta? The bleeding needs to stop.

I think the end of 2008. I personally don't think Cumulus is going to bank on the PPM helping 99X. I'm guessing they'll evaluate things after the fall book.

As everyone knows, I am big fan of 99x. Even I can see that ratings are in the tank.
It's my hope that PPM turns things around, but who knows what will happen.

According to Arbitron's Website, Summer 2008 will be the last diary survey in Atlanta. The PPM methodology will be in place for the fall book with some numbers available in December, 2008.

I think the morning show is a big problem. It's just a regurgitqation of the old morning x but a pale comparison. Axl who I like a lot seems to just be going through the motions. I think that short morning stint took the wind out of his sails. Steve has also been doung his gig for way too long.

Overall I think the station lacks energy.

I like the new morning show. I think the rest of roster needs some re-tooling,

Well at least you admit the show is comprised of a bunch of tools. Seriously, how can you defend that show? Like it or not, it's not doing what a morning show is supposed to do which is out-perform the station. Poor Steve, who had many years of a strong lead-in show, now gets the ratings carnage of the New Morning X as his lead.

I don't know about waiting through another whole year with the current ratings. Sure rock stations are doing better with PPM, but how much would it really help 99X? It's not like it would take it up to a 3 share- maybe a 2.4 or something like that.

Here's a good question- how many times would Clear Channel have flipped 99X by now if they owned it? CC doesn't seem to let their stations sit in the 1 shares for very long without flipping them (except GST). Of course 2 shares are perfectly acceptable. CC aside, I think other companies would have flipped by now too.

I don't want to see 99X go away. It's one of my top 2 stations, but with those kind of ratings it feels like it should be nearing the end and sometimes I wish it would just come so we wouldn't have to anticipate it anymore. There are other formats that would do better (PPM or not). AC, Classic Rock, Oldies....

I think the first problem with the show is the name. The new morning X brings back a lot of unfair comparisons.
Jimmy Baron could have stuck around for less money and would brought some really good producer experience,
but Jenners brings youth and is the age demographic their are trying to reach.

To me the show is improving and I find it entertaining. It's the complete opposite of Toucher's show and I think most people
miss having that type of show around and are calling for O&A to come to town.

I do agree that the name "The New Morning X" doesn't work. After Barnes left, they've had some dumb names. But now, the show isn't new anymore. What were they going to do in 5 years? Still call it "The New Morning X?"

I don't see O&A coming anytime soon. They only format they would work on would be Project, and I'm pretty sure that no Clear Channel stations have those guys.
