ACCESS.1 Active Rocker WJSE/ATLANTIC CITY, NJ replaces former morning team SCOTTY AND ALEX with MANCOW'S MORNING MADNESS.The slot was made available when SCOTTY AND ALEX migrated to CBS Rocker WYSP/PHILADELPHIA.

...you'd think the logical progression would be to go with O&A, rather than Mancow. At least O&A have local name recognition.

I guess the rights to Mancow were cheaper.

I don't know if Mancow will make much of a difference over Scotty & Alex, who were definitely strong local personalities that fit the format. WJSE, while a good station IMO, needs to work on getting its format in focus for the sake of improving its ratings. There is too much overlap in the music selections between The Ace and sister station The Shark. And since the the change in morning show hosts took place, they seem to have added more Classic Rock - for instance, now they're playing a lot more Van Halen. I don't understand why. This station would perform far better as an Alternative outlet, or as an Active/Alternative hybrid. They didn't even give Digital 102.7 much of a chance after Stern's departure, and were quick to tinker with the format, which hasn't led to the results they were hoping for. AC lacks format holes and really needs the format that WJSE provides, but they need to skew younger by moving away from the old guard. If people really wanted to hear VH, GN'R, Aerosmith and the like, that's what The Shark is for.

The problem is, the same OM is programming both the Ace and The Shark, not to mention Kool 98.3, and if he uses the same market research for the Ace as he did for Kool 98.3, you'll be hearing the same second-string songs in the same dayparts forever. It's foolish to think you can construct a music log in 15 minutes and expect the best on-air product!
