WOW! congratulations to WPUR and PD Joe Kelly. Number 1 in the market 12+. Is this the first time? Cat Country leaps ahead of sister WFPG. Again, well deserved kudos to Joe and the rest of the crew.

MEANWHILE PAUL KELLY AT WAYV GOT HIS LUNCH HANDED TO HIM 12+ AND IN ALL KEY DEMOS...OUCH!

HOW ARE THOSE 15 MINUTE COMMERCIAL BREAKS WORKIN OUT FOR YOU NOW?!

NICE JOB BY THE CAT AND LITE ROCK! #1 & #2!

Thanks!
Joe Kelly

The ratings are a good barometer, but not the actual forcast.

I've seen the latest numbers in detail, and I'll bet WPUR IS actually the #1 station, and WFPG heritage did well too, as did WAYV. They're good radio stations with good product.

But I also just heard WZXL run a liner that said THEY were the number 1 rock station "according to the latest ratings". WZXL had their hat handed to them by WMGM.

Hurley's been claiming some #1 talk show with strange demos (18-64) and quirky hour shifting (8a-11a) that NO agency would buy. He's still making the claim, but WOND handed his hat to him as well.

The ratings in the AC/Cape May market have lost much credibility because Arbitron doesn't seem to enforce rules.

Heck, ZXL got their lunch handed to them by ESPN 1450 as well. I saw then men 25-54 numbers and ESPN was #3 in that category and #2 in morning drive and 4th in PM Drive. Thats a 1000 watt AM'er that beat ZXL, JSE and if memory serves MGM in a lot of the key male demos.

Speaking of ratings - I couldn't help but notice it was yet another abysmal book for WSJQ (Q 107). No one is expecting them to become the most listened to station in the market, but the ratings can't possibly be at the level that the operators have hoped for.

Tom: Have the folks at Coastal been in contact with you about relaunching WDOX? If not, it's only a matter of time. At some point they have to see the writing on the wall and realize that going toe to toe with the Buzz stations is a foolish move.

I believe they started airing that liner last book when WMGM had their fire and WZXL went up as a result.

It looks like WUBA/Philly was a big reason why The Buzz dropped from 1st to 3rd. 99.3's Hispanic numbers dropped by almost 50%.

SOJO's Philly PPM numbers just released aren't too shabby either. It seems that the station has kicked in on both sides of the state...

It's about time. I still don't understand who these people are who choose WAYV over SoJO 104.9. (15 great songs in a row or 15 minutes of commercials followed by a boring selection of 80s tunes pitched up so fast they sound like Chimpunks records? The choice seems kinda clear, no?)
