Attention former WCSM Celina, employees

There's a new Facebook page to share memories of working at and listening to WCSM from 1964-present. If you ever worked there or are a fan of programming from the past (or for that matter WMER/WKKI), join us!
"I Survived WCSM"

With a name like THAT on Facebook it may generate some hellish experiences from past employees....and inspire other "I survived" pages from similar small market hellholes.

Never worked at WCSM though I applied there several times in the 70s when Hayco bought the station. Their jingles (though overused since the 70s)were good...comparatively better than the other small town podunks that used Pepper/Tanner's cheezy stuff. On the brighter side WCSM-FM since then upgraded its signal, moved its transmitter to the WPTD translator tower and (FINALLY)is now in stereo.

Was at the former WAXCee 92 from 79 to 81. John Bulmer was an arrogant and self-seeking narcissist jerk though he made 92.1 sound comparitively better than the former WERM. I came (THIS) close to telling him off and punching him on account of his violent and demeaning tongue lashings. Glad I didn't though. A definitve big fish in a small pond.

As Bob Seger says: "they've got one thing in common......"

In many ways WCSM is the same station it was in the 70s and 80s, even going back to when Hugh Johnston owned the place. I think John Coe bought it in 1976. I was there on and off from 1975-82. I've got to think offers have come in, but maybe being just far enough away from Lima to not be eligible to be a Lima move-in may have made a difference.

But anyway, we're having fun with the page, and doing some reminiscing about the late Janie Henderson, who did a housewife/recipe show for 25 years. Ray Arthur and Steve "McRae" Sipe, who were there in the 70s, also contributed.
