Radio is a business before it can be anything else. If they can find someone cheaper to hire, why not do it?
Heck, Shy guy Shawn could probably make the station happen for alot less.
He could be both morning guy, and pd!...save Entercom alot of money, and free up the overnites for someone else. Shy Guy Shawn is just too over qualified for overnites!
______________

Yeah, but Pickle is a great morning man. Still sounds good too, and he's been at Kiss since the early 90s when he did Post Modern Sundays after coming over from CFNY

Post modern sunday's..was an interesting show..
i dont know, or remember if i like it or not! haha..

re:
shyGuy_shawn,
yes he is a "ICON" @ wkse-fm..however, to have him
carry the station would be asking too much.

Re: Brian B. Wilde

As I noted in and earlier post (8/4):

"...dismissing a newly hired PD and having to replace him is a screaming indictment of Entercom's local upper management, which has failed to properly fill a critically important position at a crucial juncture in a station's development.

Two program directors have been released in the last twelve months under much turmoil. The station is under intense scrutiny locally and nationally, to say nothing of the opinions posted in this forum.

WKSE is a heritage CHR station. It cash flows millions. It's a major component in Entercom's local revenue generating scheme and it impacts the company's overall well-being..."

Brian B. has the experience and credibility to get the job done in Buffalo. Entercom brass appears to have made a mistake in not hiring Brian when they hired Steele.

The salient question is, does Brian actually want to step into this mess or would he prefer to get his first PD gig at a station in another medium market.

Contacts inside 500 Corporate Parkway say dealing with the issues at hand will be no picnic. There's a mess that needs to be cleaned up, there are massive egos that need to be pandered-to on the morning show and there's a sales department that needs to be re-assured. The demands on programming will be enormous, to say the least.

On top of this, you have Entercom-Philadelphia telling the local suits, "You screwed up with Steele and you've got a mess on your hands with Universal... you better get this hire right!"

The pressure is really on, the players are "all-in" and they're playing the game balls-out. Pat Paxon and Bill Pasha from corporate likely will have a big hand in selecting the next Kiss PD.

Brian B., qualified as he is, may not want to step foot into this swamp.

CFNY huh? I Thought I heard him on CING...guess I'm mixing him up with someone else.

Sorry for overlooking the fact that the morning show is fine the way it is.

I still believe SGS is a good option for PD...IF Brian doesn't become pd, respectfully.

*Unless , this was already corrected...
Pickle was originally on CFNY / and, then did a short stint
on [email protected]>>95.3 "energy"(radio)..on all [?]four stations along
the network(93.1; 94.9; 95.3; 103.1?) ..well, some time after
2002 - because i recall the 9/11 related topics on the show...

They had a big hand in picking the LAST p.d.

If that's the case, they should be prohibited from selecting the NEXT PD, wouldn't you think.

And if they didn't play a role in hiring Steele, then Greg and Larry are off the hook, but they're still in the frying pan for the Universal mess.

I'm not at all close to that situation. I just know that Entercom's standard line (all radio companies official position) is that decisions are local but let's just say that they are heavily "influenced" by Paxton. He would definitely have interviewed him. It is entirely possible that he keeps just enough distance to keep from getting sucked in by the bad decisions while retaining credit for the good ones!

KISS PD

Maybe they should just make Janet Snyder PD. Rumor has it that she thinks the station revolves around her anyway...

Which brings me to promoting from within... Does anybody there really command enough respect to deal with some of the egos that are already in house?
