Here's some food for thought. In the Florida Times Union TV Magazine - the Radio Guide Page-WPLA is listed at 107.3 as an alternative format. And WROO is listed as a country format at 93.3. My comments aren't about what is wrong here, but what is correct. Kudos to the PDs/management who took the initiative and apparently have some pride in their stations in completing those little details in station execution.
Similarly, when WKQL (Cool 96.9) flipped to classic hits, it was a relatively short time that the correct station identification WJGL showed.
Perhaps not too many people even look at the Radio Guide. But that's not the point. To me, attention to detail helps ensure things get done correctly. You don't loose credibility and that's critical in a medium like radio. The other day, Pat Garrett talked about how prevalent it is for many stations to just lie down and play dead. I couldn't agree more and why that is, I haven't a clue. Being the best you can be, taking pride in what you do and having the desire to win says a lot about YOU.
Oh, and by the way, after some 11 months WWRR retired, it is still listed at 100.7 and not WKQL. And WSOS is still listed as an adult contemporary station. Frankly, this speaks volumes.
