Attention To Detail

On the radio the Mid-South Fair tells me Jimi Jamison is coming, and to tantalize me they play "Eye Of The Tiger" by Survivor, a song that was recorded two years BEFORE Jimi started singing with them. To be fair, I'm sure he sang the song millions of times, and I'm sure he'll sing it in concert at the Mid-South Fair, but it's NOT HIM singing on the song on the spot. Now, there were four top-10 songs Jimi did sing with the band, and I have seen him wow audiences with anything he does. I just wouldn't do a spot for Jimi Jamison using someone else's voice to promote him.

(Legal disclaimer: Of course, if Jimi recorded his own version of the song and that is what they are using, then as always I will be quick to admit the error of my ways and stand corrected and repentant. But I don't think that's the case.)

Trivia fiends will note that Dave Bixler, who did sing on the song in question, is also the singer in the "Real Men Of Genius" spots.

The Delta Fair promoted an appearance by The Spinners by playing The Rubberband Man on the spot.

Philippe Wynne's lead vocals can be heard on the song.

Wynne died in 1984.
