ATTENTION WJYE!

Is it too much to ask to wait for me to get down to Wegmans where I Could pick up my Thanksgiving turkey, cook it and then eat it before you at WJYE begin playing Holy Jolly Christmas. At about 12:40pm today, it happened. No it is not 24/7 YET, but come on!

That was a special early warning song that they air every year shortly before thanksgiving.
Things just wouldn't be the same in Niagara County without it.

Perhaps they can change the words to "Holly Jolly Thanksgiving" and sing about things to be thankful for...?

Would that make your day better?

The Canadian Way

Sometimes I think it would be nice to go with the Canadian Thanksgiving in October. Travelling would (usually) be easier because the weather would be better.

The biggest downside is that the stations would be going All-Christmas in the middle of October...

There are houses here that have been lit up with their holiday lights since "our" Thanksgiving. :p

Of course those are the ones where the owners have taken a bunch of lights, thrown them at the house, and then attached the timer and walked away. And the rest of us have to look at them longer than the homes of people who actually take the time to make their displays look nice.

Back in the day we never played Christmas music until the first week in December...and sometimes not until Dec 15. Of course, back in the good old days people also took their lights down by the end of January and didn't leave those silly icicle thingies hanging on their porches all year.

Have a holly jolly Thanksgiving indeed.

Uncle Oski has already decorated the shop windows with red and green flamingos, which are just as bad as the pink ones that have been on his lawn since 1967. :-\

The icicles on the shop gutters are still up from last year. We hoped the October snow storm would have taken them down, but they appear to be impervious to bad weather and good taste.

It's gaudy as hell, but people come into the shop and tell us how "cute" they are. Business is up 27% from last year. Guess those radio suits know more than we give 'em credit for knowing.[/Mike]
